Cardi B has grown into a household name of being one of the most dominant figures in the music industry over the last three years. She’s won plenty of awards such as a Grammy and also has a chart-topping debut album under her belt. Now, in a new interview with Stationhead, one of the topics that the Bronx native discussed was some of the idols in the industry that she has now as opposed to when she didn’t have any earlier in her career.
Cardi Expresses Admiration For Rihanna And Also Jay Z
“Now that I’m at the level that I’m at, one of my biggest influences is Rihanna and JAY-Z,” said Cardi. “I’m not just saying it to kiss ass or anything. I just feel like they’re so influential because Rihanna comes from a country, a Caribbean country, that my parents came from and she’s a whole billionaire.”
Cardi Also Discusses Overcoming Haters Like Rihanna Did
“And every single time that I’m getting dragged on social media, people, my fans be like, ‘You know this is something that Rihanna dealt with when she first came out,'” she added. “People just talking sh*t on Twitter and everything. I wasn’t really aware ’cause I didn’t use to be on social media like that when I was younger, but for her to make her business so big and be a billionaire, like, that’s what I strive to be. That’s what I want.”
Cardi Wants To Reach Billionaire Status
Like Rihanna and Jay Z, Cardi also wants to become a billionaire. She also emphasized the importance of being a huge brand as a whole. Both Rih and Hov have done an amazing job of this and at the rate that going is going in her career, becoming a billionaire isn’t something that is far-fetched.
“I want to be a billion-dollar woman. I want to build a huge brand. I want to be there. Not just to be recognized as the music, but like, she’s a whole f*ckin’ brand.”
Cardi Is Also Fresh OffAn Impressive Grammy Performance
Cardi performed at the GRAMMYs last weekend with Megan Thee Stallion for their chart-topping hit single, “WAP.” This record has gone 5x platinum since its release last August. At the same time though, there have been plenty of hate from Republicans such as Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens. Owens has even threatened to sue Cardi after the two recently argued on Twitter again. In the end though, WAP is still winning big and should be Grammy-nominated in 2022 if Cardi decides to submit it then after her sophomore album comes out.
