Russell Brand And His Accuser Get Deposition Dates In Sexual Assault Lawsuit

Russell Brand and his accuser will be legally questioned under oath in his ongoing sexual assault case next year!

The comedian will be in the hot seat next February and will answer important questions about the hefty allegations against him by an extra on his movie set over a decade ago.

Russell Brand's accuser claimed in her 2023 lawsuit that the actor exposed himself to her before the cast and crew of his movie project on set in 2010.

The actor's accuser will appear for her deposition weeks before him on January 21, 2025, while Brand will sit for his session on February 25, 2025.

In the lawsuit filed last November under the moniker Jane Doe, the accuser claimed Brand "appeared intoxicated, smelled of alcohol, and was carrying a bottle of vodka on set."

She continued that the actor followed her into the restroom and proceeded to assault her as a crew member watched the door. The accuser noted that she has "suffered and continues to suffer extreme embarrassment, shame, and fear" as a result of the sexual abuse.

Per In Touch, the actor has since denied all the allegations with his attorney, claiming he did not recollect having any interaction with Jane and also denied claims of his client being drunk on set.

His attorney explained that Brand's character, Arthur Bach, in the movie was a drunk who only acted as directed. Brand's lawyer insisted that his client was clean and "did not drink a sip of alcohol or consume any drugs at any time during production."

"[Brand] has been sober since December 13, 2002. By the time [Jane] filed her Complaint in November 2023, [Brand] had not used drugs or alcohol for nearly 21 years. It appears that [Jane] is unable to distinguish acting from reality," the legal rep argued.

The attorney blamed the accuser's "faulty memory of the events she alleged in her complaint — more than 13 years after they supposedly happened" as the reason for her allegedly bogus accusations.

Brand's legal team demanded the court dismiss the victim's plea to give her more time in the case after she had waste time and let it sit for months. He asked that the court throw out the entire case due to delays.

The actor's team noted that the media continued to cover the case after she filed it, adding, "A simple search for Brand's name yields more than two dozen articles about this lawsuit."

His lawyer stated that media houses such as BBC, Rolling Stone, NPR, and The Daily Mail have all "reported on [Jane's] scurrilous allegations against [Brand]."

They added that the accuser should not be "rewarded for dragging her feet and failing to move her case forward while the media continues to publish negative and prejudicial articles about [Brand] based on her unproven allegations."

However, the accuser recorded a win in her plea at a hearing on December 3 when the presiding judge granted her request for an extension.

Following a rigorous 13-month inquiry by the Met police, the body finally recommended in November that Brand be charged with historic sex offenses based on multiple recent accusations from women he assaulted in the past.

As reported by The Blast, during the period of the inquiry, the actor was interviewed by the police on multiple occasions to confirm the details of his involvement with his alleged victims who he got involved with at the height of his career,

Brand's first meeting with the authorities was reportedly done under caution on November 16, 2023, with Brand being quizzed over three sex offense claims.

He also voluntarily came in for the interview after the negative attention he had received from the accusations, and he was invited a second time on December 14, 2023.

He was questioned about six other historical sex offenses and was asked to come in for another interview session in January. There is no information on the length of each interview or whether Brand conducted it alone or with his attorney.

The actor's can of worm opened wide after Channel 4's Dispatches and The Sunday Times concluded their investigation. About four women reportedly came forward accusing the comedian of sexual assault and rape, claiming they occurred between 2006 and 2013.

This also coincided with the peak of the "Despicable Me 2" actor's fame, as he was a BBC Radio 2 and Channel 4 presenter. A woman named Alice recalled dating Brand for three months and explained that the relationship drained her emotionally.

She described the actor as "emotionally abusive and controlling," adding that she was a teenager at the time and Brand was 31. Two more women also accused him of sexually assaulting them in Los Angeles and the United Kingdom, respectively.
