As this year’s “Golden Globe Awards” approaches, fans recall the crazy incident that plagued the event in the past from the party crashers that scammed Sarah Hyland, Keegan-Michael Key and others.
In 2019, the frauds went viral when they snuck into the W Magazine after-party, which was held at the Chateau Marmont Hotel.
As reported by Variety, the swindlers were positioned outside and dressed as security guards as they lay in wait for stars to approach. They asked the stars for their tickets with an assumed air of belonging, including Hyland and Key.
Too Late
Some of the unsuspecting stars who couldn’t tell them apart from real guards handed over their tickets.
The man who took the tickets was reportedly dressed in a black suit and white shirt, and he swiftly disappeared from the premises when his scam was found out, and the real security team was alerted.
The tickets he collected were in all likelihood sold to a small hoard of ordinary people who found a way into the exclusive party.
Fortunately, the awards organizers were merciful to Hyland and Key and the rest of the people who were victims of the scam.
A Party Full Of Stars
After a short delay, they were let into the exclusive event to join other A-list artists gathered in the hotel. The event’s guest list was quite impressive, with stars like Nicole Kidman, Tracee Ellis Ross and Amy Adams.
Other A-listers that graced the occasion with their presence, ranged from incredible movie stars to TV personalities that fans love and adore.
Celebrities such as Lili Reinhart, Emma Stone, Michael B. Jordan, Lakeith Stanfield and Rachel Bloom also made appearances at the event. Jon Voight, Olivia Colman, and Troye Sivan were also there mingling ahead of Sunday’s award show.
