Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman is going to get to relive some of her glory days from a youngster attending one of the coolest summer camps imaginable. The gold medalist took to Instagram this week and announced a new position at Camp Woodward, a sports-centric summer camp set into the sprawling landscape in Woodward, PA. The camp is well-known for having an amazing gymnastic program, and Raisman will be taking on a new role at the camp after forming so many memories there in her formative years.
Revealing a longtime dream of wanting to be a gymnastics coach, Aly Raisman shared a yearbook photo on social media and wrote:
“In my fifth grade yearbook I wrote that I wanted to be a gymnastics coach and help kids … I’m very grateful that I’ll get the chance to do both and hopefully more as Woodward’s Gymnastics Program Designer.”
Raisman explained that she attended the camp as a young gymnast and plans on returning to for “sessions” starting in the summer.
Camp Woodward seems pretty incredible and has since expanded its lineup of activities to extreme sports like skating, BMX riding, cheer, and parkour. Aly Raisman says that, along with the physical activities, she has been working to make sure campers receive a well-rounded social experience.
“We’ve been working very hard to elevate the camp experience. We want campers to not only improve their skills in the gym but also build a healthy & strong sense of self while exploring new passions outside of sport.”
Along with tumbling and twirling, Aly Raisman is looking forward to some other summer camp-related activities and shared about where to find her when she’s not in the gym.
“We have so many activities for the campers outside of gymnastics. One of those activities I can’t wait to do is horseback-riding.”
She also explained that gardening will be a popular activity, which is something Raisman has preached about on social media.
Sounds like Camp Woodward will be the place to be this summer, sign us up!
