It was a bittersweet moment for “Alaskan Bush People” star Bear Brown as he celebrated the birthday of his first-born son days after the tragic death of his father. Bear took to Instagram on Tuesday to share the celebrations and familial festivities for River Brown, who just took his first trip around the sun after being born prematurely during the beginning throes of the coronavirus pandemic. Bear was clearly emotional while reflecting on all that has happened in the past year during a message he sent out to fans.
Showing baby River playing in a pile of blue balloons and sporting a traffic bow tie, Bear Brown spoke about how elated he was to be celebrating his son’s 1st birthday.
“Today is my boy’s first Birthday!!! River is officially one year old!” Bear exclaimed.
He continued, “I’ve also taken to calling him Little Billy, in honor of Da, I know without a doubt, my Dad would be proud of me! I will try my hardest to be as good as a dad as he was!”
Speaking on the qualities he believes River shares with his late father, Billy Brown, Bear shared that his da was:
“Someone who was always there for me, someone who always had the right answer, no matter how silly, or serious the question, someone who always stood up for what he believed in!”
The reality star added, “Someone that helped everyone he came across, someone that cared about people that didn’t care about him! Someone that truly loved life! And believed in God with all his heart! I have large boots to fill! And I will give my all to try to fill them!!!! Happy 1st Birthday River!!!! Daddy loves you!!!”
As we reported, “Alaskan Bush People” patriarch Billy Brown passed away in February after suffering multiple seizures due to his ongoing medal issues. The Brown family is still grieving from the loss, but Bear has found some silver lining in the fact that his son, and future wife, were able to spend time with Billy in the days before he passed.
“I’m glad my Dad got to meet my son, his grandson, I will always remember the twinkle in his eyes when he held him!” Bear wrote in a recent Instagram post.
