In February, the state of Texas went through some very horrible winter weather which left homes damaged and citizens lacking essential supplies. Among these was a lack of water along with no power. For many, it took days for their power to come back on as they were simply trying to get by this tough situation throughout the state. Now, Travis Scott and his Cactus Jack Foundation are giving back in a major way to those in his hometown of Houston.
Travis Feeds 1,000 Families In Houston With His Cactus Jack Foundation
On Sunday, the Cactus Jack Foundation revealed on social media that they and Scott were able to feed 1,000 families in Houston that have been affected by the winter weather that struck the city. A food drive took place at Willowridge High School this past weekend. It was organized in a drive-thru manner to produce, masks, water, canned food, along with PPE were among the supplies handed out to the citizens of Houston. Even the city’s Mayor, Sylvester Turner, showed the event a lot of love.
50,000 Hot Meals Were Also Handed Out
Ahead of this event, Scott and the Foundation revealed that their goal was to hand out 50,000 hot meals to these families in need. In the end, this goal was fully accomplished as Houstonians received the supplies they needed in the aftermath of an unreal time this winter season.
“TRAVIS SCOTT AND CACTUS JACK FOUNDATION PARTNER WITH CITY OF HOUSTON TO LAUNCH EMERGENCY FOOD DISTRIBUTION PROGRAM PROVIDING 50,000 HOT MEALS TO HOUSTON RESIDENTS EFFECTED BY THE 2021 TEXAS WINTER FREEZE,” the foundation announced on Instagram, last week.
Scott Also Launched Scholarship For HBCUs
Scott has done an amazing job of giving back as back in November, he also helped HBCUs. According to TMZ, his Cactus Jack Foundation launched the Waymon Webster Scholarship. This was named after Scott’s late father. This will be available to HBCUs such as Morehouse College, Howard University, Texas Southern University, Grambling State University, and Prairie View A&M University. His mother is also an alum of Grambling. This scholarship will cover tuition.
“My grandfather wanted me to take it all the way through college, I feel there is a power in education so to be able to give someone the opportunity to fulfill that dream as my papa thought for me is amazing,” said Scott to TMZ.
Fans Wait for Scott’s ‘Utopia’ Album
Of course, there is also a demand for a new album from Scott. All throughout 2020, fans have been wondering when his long-awaited fourth studio album, “Utopia,” will finally be released. As of now, there is no official release date for it nor any official cover art. In 2020 though, he had two huge records in “THE SCOTTS” with Kid Cudi which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart along with “Franchise” feat. M.I.A. and Young Thug. That record also reached No. 1 on the Hot 100.
