“Teen Mom OG” star Amber Portwood is back on social media after almost a year of silence, and she has a big announcement about her future and where she’s headed. The controversial MTV star took to Instagram in a flurry this week after not providing any real updates on social media for the better part of a year. It seems that although Portwood has been quiet, she has been keeping busy and is about to take her education to the next level by enrolling in college.
The “Teen Mom OG” star announced that she is going to be a proud boilermaker, as Amber Portwood will be attending Purdue University which is only about an hour and a half from her home in the nearby town of West Lafayette, Indiana.
“I just got accepted in college at Purdue University – Bachelor of Science in Psychology in Applied Behavior Analysis,” the MTV reality star announced to her 1.7 million Instagram followers.
Portwood included a photo of herself wearing a bright yellow shirt and smiling while listening to music for her big news.
It’s clear that with her extensive experience on “Teen Mom,” and dealing with her own mental and emotional traumas over the years, Amber Portwood is looking forward to exploring more about psychology and behavior. According to the Purdue University website, a description of her educational focus will prepare Portwood for many therapy and behavioral type careers.
“This program provides an examination of the design, analysis, and application of learning theories and behavioral principles. It is designed to prepare you to pursue careers working with children and adults struggling with behaviors ranging from difficulty with everyday social interactions to various disorders including autism spectrum disorders, and other mental health challenges,” a statement on the website reads.
It has only been a few days since Amber Portwood’s return to Instagram, and the reality star seems to be in a very positive place. When we last left her, the 30-year-old star had cut a plea deal with prosecutors in Indiana after her arrest for domestic violence during July 4th, 2019. as part of her plea deal, Portwood was sentenced to 2.5 years of probation and attend parenting classes. In the wake of her public legal ordeal, Portwood took time for herself to get back on track and focus on her children, who are currently in the primary custody of her two baby daddies, Andrew Glennon and Gary Shirley.
