Britney Spears’ private home videos were leaked to CNN amid her battle to remove her father Jamie Spears as co-conservator of her estate.
Recently, Jamie’s lawyer Vivian Lee Thoreen recently sat down for a lengthy interview with CNN. She is currently on a PR tour for her client after the New York Times documentary “Framing Britney Spears” raised questions about why the pop star is still under a conservatorship.
In the past couple of months, Britney has become more vocal in court about her desire to have her father removed as the person in charge of her finances and life.
Jamie’s lawyer claimed to CNN her client would love nothing more than the conservatorship to end.
She said, “[Jamie] would love nothing more than to see Britney not need a conservatorship. Whether or not there is an end to the conservatorship really depends on Britney. If she wants to end her conservatorship, she can file a petition to end it.”
In the NY Times documentary, Britney’s former lawyer Adam Streisand spoke out about the singer not wanting her father to be in charge. Adam, who was hired by Britney but not allowed to represent her in court for odd reasons, said, Brit was “just agitated. She understood the concept of a conservatorship but did not want her father to be the conservator.”
Jamie’s lawyer says he wants the conservatorship to end but is still fighting in court to stay in power. Britney’s father has been objecting to his daughter’s attempts to have him axed.
In the CNN interview, Jamie’s lawyer laid it on thick and portrayed her client as someone who only wants to help his daughter out.
She said, “Jamie is not suggesting that he is the perfect dad or that he would receive any ‘Father of the Year’ award. Like any parent, he doesn’t always see eye-to-eye on what Britney may want. But Jamie believes every single decision he has made has been in her best interest.”
Jamie’s lawyer claimed Britney spent time with her father during the lockdown. She said, “When the pandemic hit and everyone had to stay at home, Britney wanted to go home. She wanted to see her family, Jamie unquestionably loves Britney, and he misses her very much. But he also respects her, and he wants to give her autonomy and space.”
CNN added they “obtained videos of the family from their two weeks together. In them, the singer is seen riding bikes and playing in the yard alongside her father, mother Lynne Spears, sister Jamie Lynn Spears, and her nieces.”
The outlet did not state who provided the personal home videos.
