Travis Scott is still one of the biggest artists in the world so whenever he is seen in public, he always draws huge crowds. This was the case in West Hollywood, CA on Tuesday as he held a newsstand event to celebrate his cover of the “Utopia issue” of i-D Magazine. Fans quickly flocked to the event to get magazines signed that were given to them along with personal items. For the city of Los Angeles though, they are taking a big issue with what went down due to their usual strict COVID-19 rules in the city.
Travis Could Be Penalized By Local Officials For This Event
According to TMZ, L.A.’s Dept. of Public Works says that no permit was given to Scott‘s event. They added that they are planning to meet with the City Attorney’s Office to discuss what punishments they want to hand to Scott, with fines likely being one of them. Permitting violations usually end up in these fines, according to the outlet. The City Council in LA has encouraged police to take action against gatherings such as this.
Scott Also Drew A Large Crowd For McDonald’s Event Last Fall
In September, Scott also held a large gathering in Downey, CA. This was to celebrate the launch of the “Travis Scott meal” at their McDonald‘s location. This restaurant in Downey is also the oldest active McDonald’s location in the United States. The Travis Scott meal lasted for a month as it featured a medium Sprite, a Quarter Pounder with bacon, and French fries with barbeque sauce. The Houston rapper ended up being fined $200 for not having a permit to film and not getting an event permit to allow over 200 people.
Fans Are Ready For Travis’ ‘Utopia’ Album
Scott is expected to finally put out his fifth studio album, “Utopia,” sometime this year. In his interview with i-D Magazine, he revealed how he is growing on this project and gets to work with new people as well.
“I’ve been making beats again, rapping on my own beats, just putting everything together and trying to grow it really,” he said. “That’s been one of the most fun things about working on this album. I’m evolving, collaborating with new people, delivering a whole new sound, a whole new range.”
Travis’ ‘Sicko Mode’ Single Featuring Drake Went Diamond At End Of 2020
Scott also closed out 2020 on a very good note. His 2018 “Sicko Mode” single featuring Drake was certified diamond in the United States. This is after selling 10 million units. This record appeared on Scott’s fourth album, “Astroworld,” in 2018. It was one of the biggest albums of that year as well. It contained 17 tracks with appearances by Drake, Frank Ocean, Swae Lee, The Weeknd, and more. Astroworld debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and is 3x platinum in the US.
