Tiger Woods Will NOT Face Criminal Charges Connected To Massive Car Accident

"We don't contemplate any charges whatsoever in this crash," Villanueva said on Facebook.

Adding, "This remains an accident. An accident is not a crime. They do happen, unfortunately."

As we reported, the deputy who was first on the scene of the accident reported he did not expect alcohol as being responsible for the crash -- nor did he believe Tiger Woods was impaired in any way. Plus, according to reports, nothing 'illicit' was found in the golfer's car.

It's unclear if speed was a contributing factor in this case, but even if it is, it is simply an infraction. The Sheriff's office has collected the 'black box' inside of Tiger's vehicle which will help in that part of this investigation.

It's interesting the L.A. Sheriff's office would make such a statement considering the investigation most likely doesn't include any blood toxicology report taken inside the hospital following the accident.

As you know, Tiger was famously arrested after being found asleep inside of his vehicle on the side of the road in Florida. At the time, prescription medication was blamed for the incident. It's unclear if authorities are taking this into consideration while investigating this incident.

The good news, Tiger is "awake, responsive and recovering" from surgery his doctor said in a statement following his hospitalization.

According to a statement, posted on Tiger's social media, the pro golfer suffered from multiple 'open fractures' and underwent a 'long surgical procedure' on his lower right leg and ankle.

"Comminuted open fractures affecting both the upper and lower portions of the tibia and fibula bones were stabilized by inserting a rod into the tibia," the doctor said.

He continued, "Additional injuries to the bones of the foot and ankle were stabilized with a combination of screws and pins. Trauma to the muscle and soft tissue of the leg required the surgical release of the covering of the muscles to relieve pressure due to swelling."

Tiger is continuing his recovery inside a Los Angeles hospital.
