Brooklyn rapper, Bobby Shmurda, had been incarcerated for almost seven years leading up to Tuesday. He was granted a conditional release as he was originally scheduled to be freed in December. He was originally arrested and charged back in December 2014 for conspiracy to commit murder, reckless endangerment, drug, and gun possession. Shmurda‘s other crew were facing charges of murder, attempted murder, assault, and dealing drugs. One associate ended up getting hit with 98 years to life in prison for murder. Another was hit with 117 years.
Quavo Picked Up Bobby In A Private Jet
Shmurda definitely left prison in style on Tuesday. On Monday, Quavo said to Billboard that he would be picking the rapper from prison and that’s exactly what happened. Quavo got a private jet and soon arrived at the facility to greet Shmurda. Shmurda was seen in an all-black outfit as his face was also covered with a black mask. Shmurda also sported a gold chain and black hat. He and Migos collaborated back in 2015 on the song “Shmigo Money Never Stop.“
Shmurda Will Reportedly Spend Time With Family And Record New Music
On Sunday, TMZ reported on plans that Shmurda has following his release from prison. This includes spending more time with family members, having an “intimate dinner,” and recording new music, something that fans have been craving for years, per his mother, Leslie Pollard, to the outlet.
At the same time though, Shmurda has to frequently check in with his parole officer. This will be the case until all the way in 2026. Obviously, this is much better than still being in prison. Social media has since expressed how happy they are that Shmurda is home with his family and can go back to winning big with music again.
Bobby Became A Star In 2014
Shmurda‘s legal woes struck him in December 2014 but that same year also helped him blow up as one of the hottest rappers in the game. He saw his breakthrough with his “Hot N*gga” single which went on to peak at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It also hit No. 1 on the Billboard US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Shmurda had another very hot record to go with this one in “Bobby B*tch.” Both of these tracks appeared on his “Shmurda She Wrote” EP.
Bobby Received Three New RIAA Certifications On The Day Of His Release
On Tuesday, Shmurda received even more great news regarding his music. He received three new RIAA certifications for the material he released back in 2014. According to Chart Data, his “Hot N*gga” single is now 5x platinum after selling five million units. The “Bobby B*tch” single is at platinum status, and the “Shmurda She Wrote” EP is at gold status. That is after hitting the 500,000 unit mark. Videos soon surfaced on social media of Shmurda admiring his three plaques.
