71-year-old “American Idol” judge Lionel Richie‘s 30-something girlfriend Lisa Parigi is speaking out after Twitter went wild after learning about their age gap.
Over the weekend, social media lost it after finding out Lionel was dating someone closer to the age of his daughters than him. Lisa doesn’t seem impressed with the talk and took to Instagram to post subliminal quotes.
She first shared a quote that clearly is about her situation. It read, “Great minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, small minds discuss people.”

Lisa, who is originally from Switzerland but now lives in Los Angeles with Lionel, added, “you don’t have to prove anything to anyone you’re good the way you are.”
The singer has reportedly been dating Lisa since 2014. Lisa’s exact age is unclear at the moment but she’s believed to be in her early 30’s. Lionel has two daughters 22-year-old Sofia Richie and 39-year-old Nicole Richie, who both seem to love Lisa. Back in October, Lionel posted a video of Sofia and Nicole singing Lisa “Happy Birthday” in the backyard of his megamansion.
He captioned the b-day video, “Happy Birthday My Love.. ? @lisaparigi_ You always make everyone feel special…?Today we celebrate you… ❤️ #surprise #bday #latergram.”
Many fans have been supportive of Lionel dating a woman who is much younger than him. One person felt there was no problem and told everyone to back off. They wrote, “Y’all been giving Lionel Richie the business for the past 3 business days. Let that man dance on the ceiling with his 30-year-old girlfriend in peace!”
“Lionel Richies Girlfriend is 30, this is what I’m talking about, where are the good-looking Lionel Richie sugar daddies at!! He doesn’t even look 71,” said one person who approved of the romance.
Another understood the situation commenting, “I don’t love it, but I’m okay with it. I’m 30 and if a 70-year-old came for me I definitely wouldn’t feel preyed on.” They ended, “If the 70 year old was Lionel Richie I’d go for it too.”
Lionel has yet to address the controversy.
