Bella Thorne is upset that YouTube removed her latest music video, so she rattled the cage until they reposted it to her channel!
The fiery actress lashed out at the popular video platform on Monday night, February 22. Thorne feels like the music video for her song, “Shake It,” didn’t violate YouTube’s code of conduct and accused them of holding women artists to a higher standard than male artists. YouTube allegedly removed and reposted the video after she called them out for censoring her girl-on-girl action.
Bella’s “Shake It” video is extremely sultry and features her friend and her getting naughty in white lingerie. However, it did not include any nudity and seemed par for the course regarding highly-sexualized music videos on YouTube, a fact she was happy to point out.
“Hey @youtube – why’d you take down my video for Shake It? Is it because I’m having fun with @dangershewrote?” Thorne wrote on Instagram.
She continued, “Male artists always have women shaking ass in videos… why can’t we? Censorship against women needs to end!!! I’ll never stop fighting against this bull%h*t. Stay tuned. Also Congrats guys, you broke YouTube! ??”
Forgive our lamens explanation about how YouTube works. We will do our best to describe a little bit of the process. It’s possible that numerous users reported the “Shake It” video as being inappropriate for the platform. If that is the case, YouTube is within its rights to take the video down. However, the video’s creator can request that an actual human review the video to determine if it violates the platform’s rules. In Bella’s case, calling them out on social media seemed to speed up the process and her video was reinstated.
Thorne’s music video has already made an impact on internet culture and racked up over 220K views since being reinstated. Uncle Snoop Dogg even gave Bella’s video a shoutout before all the drama started.
“New video From my neice @bellathorne ?,” Snoop wrote as he shared a clip with his 55.3-million followers.
Bella was moved by the kind gesture and quickly commented, “I love you ????.” She laughed because Uncle Snoop posted it before she had a chance to. ” Snoop Dogg posted it first HHahahaha,” she joked.
