Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas is back in the winner’s circle after a commanding set of performances on the inaugural season of “The Masked Dancer” that resulted in the gold-medalist being crowned champion. 25-year-old Douglas, who played the Cotton Candy character, was finally able to talk to fans about appearing on the hit FOX show, hosted by Craig Robinson, as part of the show’s rules required the gymnastics legend to remain silent on her participation throughout the entirety of the season. It must have been especially hard for Douglas, as she made it all the way through until the end of the show!
Gabby Douglas is no stranger to standing atop a podium or two, but she admits that performing on “The Masked Dancer,” alongside partner Grant Gilmore just hit different.
“Ah! I finally get to share the mysterious and amazing journey that I will never forget.
thank you so much @maskeddancerfox for having me,” Douglas captioned her post to her 1.5 million Instagram followers.
She added, “It was a huge honor to be apart of the show. i loved every single moment. i loved that you all made it about family, heart, passion, joy, and character. i will forever cherish this experience.”
Gabby Douglas made sure to pay tribute to her partner, professional dancer and creative director, Grant Gilmore, for standing by her side on the path to victory.
“A ride i will always remember. grant. thank you so much for everything. being your partner was truly a joy, your constant love, support, patience, hard work and energy you brought every day was so reviving,” Douglas explained.
It sounded like a truly emotional roller coaster throughout the season, as Douglas described, “It was always a sugary delight to perform alongside you. thank you so much for every single laugh, every single tear, all of the ups and all of the downs, thank you for every single moment bc those moments made this beautiful and indelible journey.”
Fans should have known something was up with Gabby Douglas as the gymnast recently began displaying some interesting moves on Instagram for her followers. Sharing her feelings on nature, the Olympian revealed a video of herself doing an impressive yoga flow that included a textbook inversion. Although she has always remained active, Douglas was clearly showing off some impressive fitness techniques and had obviously been showing off how lean and limber she was.
By the way, is it any surprise that a gold medal Olympian with years of dedication and hard work to her craft came in and swept the floor with the regular competition?!
