Actor Alec Baldwin is no longer facing criminal charges for the October 2021 shooting of Halyna Hutchins on the set of “Rust,” but that doesn’t mean that his troubles have come to an end.

The “30 Rock” actor is still named in several civil lawsuits brought by various crew members and Hutchins’ family. Months after the trial was dismissed, Baldwin made it clear that he was not done fighting to clear his name, hinting that there was more to this case than had been revealed to the public.

On October 21, 2021, Alec Baldwin was holding a gun inside a church while rehearsing a scene for the Western film “Rust” in New Mexico. The gun went off, striking and killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. The bullet passed through her and hospitalized director Joel Souza, who later returned to finish the film in Montana.

During an appearance on David Duchovny’s “Fail Better” podcast in December 2024, Baldwin revealed that there is “another phase” to his legal drama as he tries to “expose what really happened” and how the bullets ended up on the set of the Western film.

Although he is no longer on trial, the “Beetlejuice” actor is still set to clear his name, telling Duchovny, “I think there’s more to come” when it comes to the details of the case.

“There’s more to come, but the ‘more to come’ is now my effort, and it’s going to be undeniably a successful effort, to raise and to expose what really happened,” he said. “I was counterpunching. I was on the defensive. I was being accused. I was being indicted.”

Baldwin claimed that the media “suppressed every story that could benefit me and amplified every story that could hurt me. This has been for three years. And the truth of what happened has never been told, never.”

The “Supercell” actor went on to explain how he was a victim of cancel culture without naming the term directly. “These last three years, people have just dined out. Because in this country, when people hate you on that level, they want three things: They want you to die,” he explained. “The second thing is, they want you to go to prison.”

“These political crowds, both sides, they love to see their enemies put in prisons for years because prison is like a living hell,” he continued. “And the third thing is, they want you canceled, which is like being in prison or being dead because you roam the earth and you’re just invisible.”

Although he is “grateful” that the judge dismissed the case with prejudice, he thinks that getting a verdict would have been “a little better” because he legal team had “troves of things to present” to the jury.

“We have more sh-t that’s going to come out in ensuing legal filings and so forth,” Baldwin continued. “There’s so much of this case that is not known because we didn’t have a full trial.”

He said that now that “things are coming back my way” in a professional sense, he feels more confident in pursuing “another phase” of bringing out the truth of the “Rust” case in the next “couple of months” after the holiday season.

After being pursued for legal charges for over three years, Baldwin wants to take a break and enjoy the holidays with his family before exposing more of the “Rust” incident in the next year. “I’m going to take a break. I don’t want to talk about this for a while. I want to kind of take a nap,” he said.

The completed “Rust” film had its premiere at the Camerimage Film Festival in Poland last month. Baldwin was not in attendance.
