Disgraced music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs has reportedly lost much weight amid his incarceration at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
The rapper is being held at the New York prison until he begins trial on racketeering and sex trafficking charges.
News of Diddy's weight loss and grayer hair color could be concerning for his well-wishers after he was earlier placed on suicide watch shortly after his arrest.
Diddy Looks 'Noticeably Thinner' And 'Grayer'
On Wednesday, Diddy appeared in court for a hearing in his federal sex trafficking case. Law & Crime reporter Elizabeth Milner, who was present at the hearing, shared details about the rapper's appearance.
Milner disclosed that Diddy "appeared astonishingly thinner," which was to be expected given that he had been in a federal prison for a couple of months.
She reported, "A lot different from the luxury lifestyle that he was living before, but [he] appeared very noticeably thinner, and maybe being locked up in detention is starting to weigh on him."
The journalist also noted that Diddy's latest appearance contrasted sharply with how he looked in a video of him playing hacky sack in Central Park days before his arrest. Milner provided more details about Diddy's hair color, noting that "he appeared grayer a little bit."
Insider Insists Disgraced Rapper Is 'Fit, Healthy and Fully Focused'
Court officials didn't let cameras inside Diddy's hearing on Wednesday, so verifying Milner's reports about his appearance was rugged.
However, a source close to the disgraced music producer told Page Six that he is "fit, healthy, and fully focused on his defense."
The insider added that Diddy "has been very active, remains in good spirits, and, as always, he was happy to see his children." They also shared that they learned Diddy had been working out regularly.
Diddy Was Placed On Suicide Watch
Shortly after being arrested in September, Diddy was placed on suicide watch for preventative measures.
The embattled rapper was reportedly in shock while his mental state was unclear. However, it wasn't known if he was suicidal or how long the suicide watch lasted.
On September 29, a law enforcement source told People Diddy was no longer on suicide watch and that his family had visited him.
The insider revealed that the "Last Night" rapper was "focused and very strong," adding that "he is concentrating on his defense and preparing for his trial."
Prison Conditions At The Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn
The Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC), where Diddy is being held ahead of his trial, has housed famous names like R&B singer R. Kelly, sex trafficker Ghislane Maxwell, and fraudster Billy McFarland.
According to The Independent, the detention center is notorious for deadly stabbings, barbaric living conditions, and maggot-infested food. MDC also suffers from violence, persistent understaffing, unsanitary conditions, and poor medical care.
Meanwhile, Diddy's lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, provided some insight into his difficulties, noting that he had struggled to adjust to the food. According to People, Agnifilo told reporters, "I think the food's probably the roughest part of it."
Diddy reportedly eats cereal, fruit, and a breakfast cake at 6 a.m. He also gets lunch at 11 a.m., which includes main courses like hamburgers, baked fish, or beef tacos. On weekends, scrambled eggs and biscuits are available.
Meanwhile, dinner consisting of chicken fajitas, pasta, and roast beef is served after a headcount at 4 p.m. Inmates also get heart-healthy and vegetarian dinner options like tofu, lentils, and baked beans.
Diddy's Legal Troubles
The "Coming Home" crooner was arrested on September 16 and indicted on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution the next day.
Federal prosecutors accused Diddy of organizing "freak offs," described in the indictment as highly-orchestrated sex performances. He was also accused of coercing or forcing women to participate in sexual acts with male sex workers. However, he pleaded not guilty to all the charges, with his lawyers repeatedly maintaining his innocence.
Since his arrest and detention, Diddy has been denied bail thrice. The judges were unwilling to free him before his trial because they feared he could tamper with witnesses, meaning he could not be trusted if he regained his freedom. The Bad Boy Records founder's trial is scheduled to begin on May 5, 2025.
