The Milwaukee Bucks And Oklahoma City Thunder Battled It Out In The Championship Game
On Saturday, the NBA Cup Semifinals had the Bucks up against the Atlanta Hawks and OKC playing the Houston Rockets. Then it came down to the Bucks vs. OKC for the title on Tuesday night in Sin City.
Early on, it was anyone's game with both teams giving it their all at the chance of taking home the title of Emirates NBA Cup Champions. But in the end, the Bucks beat OKC 97-81.
The crowd was filled with a mix of Bucks fans and OKC fans, and the energy was high throughout the game.
While OKC had a tough game and struggled, Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Bucks had an amazing game - 26 points, 19 rebounds, and 10 assists!
The Milwaukee Bucks Are The 2024 NBA Cup Champions!
There was no lack of celebrating the big moment when the game ended, and the Bucks were crowned champions.
The on-the-court celebration was something similar to an NBA Finals championship with tons of confetti, smoke, and applause. Each player gets more than just bragging rights and the championship title; they each get an extra $500,000!
One key takeaway is the team did not celebrate with champagne after their victory. The champagne room that the NBA set up for the winning team was untouched.
According to Senior NBA Insider Chris Haynes via X, "Bucks coach Doc Rivers told me after talking with Darvin Ham and his experience with Lakers last season, they chose not to celebrate The Cup championship with dousing and drinking of champagne. Want to focus on the remainder of the season."
