Chance The Rapper's estranged wife, Kirsten Corley, has taken the first step in ending their five-year marriage officially.

The famous couple shocked fans earlier this year when they announced their separation in a joint message. Although they revealed their split in April, the pair did not push for a divorce until now.

Chance the Rapper's estranged wife reportedly took the initiative on Friday, December 13. Kirsten Corley shares two young children with the "Stars Out" singer, daughters Kensli and Marli, whom the pair vowed to co-parent in their separation announcement.

According to new reports, Kristen's move to finalize her ties to Chance was captured on online records. However, the details of her divorce filing have not been released, including if she chose Hollywood's favorite reason for separation, "irreconcilable differences," in her documents.

It is unclear if the estranged couple has a prenuptial agreement to settle their differences or if Kirsten will seek spousal support. The same applied to the custody of their two children and what arrangements the pair might have to ensure smooth co-parenting.

Kirsten's divorce filing comes eight months after she and Chance announced their separation in a joint statement on their Instagram Stories. The Blast reported in April that the duo addressed their split from an amicable perspective, writing:

"After a period of separation, the two of us have arrived at the decision to part ways. We came to this decision amicably and with gratitude for the same time we spent together."

"God has blessed us with two beautiful daughters who we will continue to raise together," the former lovers noted about their children. They concluded their message asking for privacy as they navigated their transition from spouses to exes.

Chance and Kirsten's decision to end their marriage raised eyebrows since they revealed they had been separated before announcing their breakup. The news sparked renewed interest in the infidelity speculations about the rapper, which started last year.

The Hip-Hop star celebrated his 30th birthday during the 2023 Carnival in Jamaica. However, he went viral for enjoying a provocative dance session with model Mela Millz, who was in a sexy costume, as seen in a video capturing their encounter.

In the clip, a shirtless Chance repeatedly smacked Millz's derrière as she twerked on him, sparking cheating rumors. While the public was enraged by his behavior, the rapper's rep claimed his then-wife had no problems with him. "Everyone has their moments, but they're all good," the rep claimed.

Despite the rep's claims about no trouble in the couple's relationship, Kirsten hinted at a different story. In a cryptic Instagram post, she seemingly implied she was displeased by Chance's provocative dance session.

Kirsten shared a passage from the late Maya Angelou's essay "Home," with the snippet reading: "Most people don't grow up. It's too damn difficult. What happens is most people get older. That's the truth of it."

"They honor their credit cards, find parking spaces, and have the nerve to have children but don't grow up," the excerpt continued. Kirsten also captioned the lengthy message with words that appeared to be directed at Chance, reading: "I hope we all choose to grow up one day."

The estranged couple's love has faced many trials, including a few breakups. Roughly five months after welcoming their daughter Kensli, Kirsten filed legal documents to establish Chance as her father and maintain sole custody of the girl.

Kirsten also requested child support, including the expenses she incurred during pregnancy and after delivering their daughter, as well as her attorney fees. However, she and Chance eventually reconciled and got back together.

The pair hit another snag in their relationship in February 2017 when Kirsten filed a parenting schedule, claiming she and the rapper were separating. Surprisingly, they settled their differences out of court a month later and rekindled their romance.
