Famous rapper Jay-Z has filed a motion seeking to reveal the identity of his rape accuser.
This development follows the rapper being named as the second perpetrator in a lawsuit filed by the alleged victim against Bad Boy founder Sean "Diddy" Combs.
The rapper had previously addressed the allegations in a statement shared through the official Instagram page of his company, Roc Nation.
He now wants the identity of his accuser revealed or the case dismissed if the court does not agree with his demands.
Jay-Z Says It's Only 'Fair' For Rape Accuser's Identity To Be Revealed
Jay-Z has taken the next step in the battle between him and his rape accuser by filing documents requesting the court to compel the alleged victim to reveal her identity.
The rapper was only recently slammed with the rape allegations in a refiled suit, which stated that he had ganged rape the victim with Diddy while an unnamed female celebrity watched.
The alleged incident is said to have occurred at an MTV VMA afterparty in 2000 when the accuser was 13 at the time.
As the case unfolds, Jay-Z wants his accuser not to pursue the case anonymously, given the level of damage that the alleged victim's accusation has done to his "impeccable reputation."
"Fair is fair," read the docs filed by the Roc Nation founder, per TMZ. "It is not consistent with justice, fairness, or the rules governing federal proceedings for the Plaintiff and her counsel to smear [Jay-Z] 's good name."
Jay-Z Claims Rape Lawsuit Is Retaliation For Rejecting 'Extortionate' Demands
Jay-Z explained that he believes the lawsuit was filed because he refused to give in to the "extortionate" demands of the victim's lawyer, Tony Buzbee.
He also claimed the situation escalated after he filed an anonymous countersuit against the attorney where he had accused the attorney of shamelessly attempting to extort exorbitant sums from him and putting a ticking clock on the demands.
"Make no mistake this case is about retaliating against the rare target who would not pay," the rapper's filing further read.
The Grammy Award winner further stated that if the court does not grant his request, it should dismiss the rape case against him instead of allowing it to proceed to trial.
In the meantime, it remains unclear when a hearing will be held concerning Jay-Z's filing.
Jay-Z Previously Refuted The Rape Allegations
In the wake of the rape allegations going viral, Jay-Z released a statement denying the claims and calling them a "blackmail attempt."
"My lawyer received a blackmail attempt, called a demand letter, from a 'lawyer' named Tony Buzbee," the Roc Nation founder wrote, referencing a letter the Texas-based attorney had sent to inform the rapper of the accusations.
Jay-Z added, "What he had calculated was the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle. No sir, it had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a VERY public fashion. So no, I will not give you ONE RED PENNY!!"
The Grammy Award winner further defended himself, stating that if Buzbee truly believed he committed the "heinous" allegations, he should have filed a criminal complaint instead of a civil one.
He went on to call Buzbee a "deplorable human" with no "honor and dignity" and that he is "more than prepared to deal" with his type.
Attorney Tony Buzbee Slammed The Rapper's 'Blackmail' And 'Extortion' Claims
Meanwhile, Buzbee responded to Jay-Z's lengthy remarks in a statement to TMZ. He told the outlet that contrary to the rapper's claim, his demand letter did not "request a penny" as settlement.
"What [Jay-Z] fails to say in his recent statement is my firm sent his lawyer a demand letter on behalf of an alleged victim, and that victim never demanded a penny from him," the Texas-based attorney told the news outlet.
He also clarified that the demand letter was sent solely to request a "confidential mediation" between Jay-Z and his client.
Elsewhere in his response, Buzbee told the outlet that Jay-Z had "previously denied being the one who sued me and my firm."
He also revealed that the Roc Nation founder attempted to conceal his involvement in filing the "frivolous case" by using a "pseudonym."
Jay-Z's Heart Breaks For His Children After Rape Lawsuit
In his statement shared on the official Roc Nation social media pages, Jay-Z shared that he was heartbroken about the damaging effect of the rape lawsuit on his and Beyoncé's kids, especially their eldest daughter, Blue Ivy Carter.
He wrote, "My only heartbreak is for my family. My wife [Beyonce] and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims and explain the cruelty and greed of people."
Jay-Z added, "I mourn yet another loss of innocence. Children should not have to endure such at their young age. It is unfair to have to try to understand inexplicable degrees of malice meant to destroy families and human spirit."
