Attorney Tony Buzbee, who represents the alleged Sean "Diddy" Combs victim who is also accusing Jay-Z of rape, has responded to the rapper's recent "blackmail" claim.
Buzbee claimed that Jay-Z's statement, in which he alleged blackmail, failed to note that the demand letter he had previously received did not contain any money request from the victim.
The Texas-based lawyer also accused the Roc Nation founder of harassing and bullying both him and the victim after filing a "frivolous" lawsuit under a "pseudonym."
In the famous rapper's lawsuit, Jay-Z had also claimed that Tony Buzbee was attempting to extort him.
Attorney Tony Buzbee Claims Jay-Z's Rape Accuser 'Never Demanded A Penny'
In a statement to TMZ, Buzbee responded to Jay-Z's lengthy remarks regarding being named in a lawsuit filed by an alleged victim he is representing.
The attorney told the outlet that the rapper had "previously denied being the one who sued me and my firm," referencing an extortion suit that was filed against him by a person who described himself as a "high-profile individual."
Buzbee also shared that the Roc Nation founder had tried to hide that he was the one who filed the "frivolous case" by using a "pseudonym" in the suit.
The lawyer then defended himself, saying that Jay-Z failed to mention that the "demand letter," which the rapper claimed was a "blackmail attempt," did not include any discussions about money.
Buzbee told the news outlet: "What [Jay-Z] fails to say in his recent statement is my firm sent his lawyer a demand letter on behalf of an alleged victim, and that victim never demanded a penny from him."
The Texas-Based Lawyer Accused Jay-Z Of 'Bullying' Him And The Alleged Victim
Elsewhere in his response, the Texas-based attorney mentioned that the demand letter was sent to seek a "confidential mediation" between Jay-Z and his client, who accused the rapper, along with Diddy, of raping her during an afterparty.
Buzbee also claimed that, beyond being sued by Jay-Z, the rapper has also "tried to bully and harass" him and the alleged victim he is representing.
While he did not provide specific examples of the bullying and harassment, he mentioned that these actions only strengthened his and the victim's resolve to seek justice in a court of law.
"[Jay-Z's] conduct has had the opposite impact," Buzbee told the outlet. "She is emboldened. I'm very proud of her resolve."
Jay-Z has yet to respond to the new claims made by the attorney.
What Is The Accusation Against Jay-Z?
In an amended filing, Jay-Z was accused of raping his accuser when she was just 13 years old at an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty in 2000, per NBC News.
The original suit had referred to Jay-Z as "Celebrity A," with the victim claiming that she came into contact with the rapper when he, Diddy, and an unnamed female celebrity entered a room where she was resting after feeling "woozy and lightheaded" from a drink she had consumed.
According to the victim, Jay-Z first assaulted her, after which he held her down for Diddy to also "rape" her. Both assaults reportedly occurred in the presence of the unnamed female celebrity, who is yet to be named and has only been described as "Celebrity B."
The victim also revealed that she was ultimately able to escape the scene by hitting Diddy in the neck when he attempted to force her to perform oral sex on him.
She further shared that after the assault, she "fell into a deep depression," which continues to "affect every facet of her life."
The Roc Nation Boss Slammed Tony Buzbee: 'You Have Neither Honor Nor Dignity'
The rapper quickly responded to the lawsuit filed against him, claiming that his accuser and her lawyer, Buzbee, were trying to extort him for money.
"My lawyer received a blackmail attempt, called a demand letter, from a 'lawyer' named Tony Buzbee. What he had calculated was the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle," Jay-Z wrote, per Page Six.
He added, "No sir, it had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a VERY public fashion. So no, I will not give you ONE RED PENNY!!
"These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!!" the Grammy Award winner continued. "Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree? These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case."
Jay-Z further stated that he is "more than prepared to deal with" attorney Buzbee, saying, "You claim to be a marine?! Marines are known for their valor, you have neither honor nor dignity."
The Tidal founder also shared how heartbroken he was at the thought of explaining the lawsuit to his kids, especially his eldest daughter, Blue Ivy Carter.
Diddy's Lawyers Respond To Jay-Z's Naming In Amended Filing
In the wake of the victim amending her filing to include Jay-Z's name, Diddy's lawyers issued a statement where they claimed that the "barrage of lawsuits" Buzbee had filed against the Bad Boy founder were "shameless publicity stunts."
They told TMZ, "This amended complaint and the recent extortion lawsuit against Mr. Buzbee exposes his barrage of lawsuits against Mr. Combs for what they are: shameless publicity stunts, designed to extract payments from celebrities who fear having lies spread about them, just as lies have been spread about Mr. Combs."
Previously, the team has also denied the accusations of sexual assault, rape, and a number of sex crimes in those lawsuits.
"Mr. Combs has full confidence in the facts and the integrity of the judicial process. In court, the truth will prevail: that Mr. Combs never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone—man or woman, adult or minor," they stated at the time.
