A mischievous Britney Spears has caused concern with her recent Instagram posts.
The “Mmm Papi” singer posted two videos to the social media app early Tuesday where she claims to be a 5-year-old kindergarten student, and notes that rude paparazzi have caused her to flee to Mexico.

In the first video post shared on Instagram, Spears is seen in close view as she claims paparazzi have boarded her onto a plane while wearing a mask.
“I’m not really sure of why the paparazzi have me going on a plane looking like I’m wearing a Jason [Vorhees] mask,” the singer expresses, before bringing up a torch she was carrying at some point.
“I think my friend accidentally gave that to me,” Spears notes.
Things appear to become more unsettling when she acknowledges her 43rd birthday from the day before, first miscalculating her actual age, before de-aging herself from an adult to a child.
“It’s my birthday – I’m not turning 42, I’m turning 5 this year,” she says, “and I have to go to kindergarten tomorrow.”

In a second video posted by Spears later that day, she further calls out the paparazzi and inadvertently clears up her “mask” statement from the first video.
“It really hurts my feelings that the paparazzi make my face look like I’m wearing a white Jason mask,” she states, implying that her complaint stems from how she’s captured on camera.
“They’ve always been incredibly cruel to me,” Spears continues, “and the way they illustrated me [in] some of [their photos].”
After a laugh, Spears claims that she’s taken drastic measures to hinder the paparazzi from taking more unflattering photos:
“They’ve been extremely mean and cruel, and that’s why I’ve moved to Mexico!”
The Paparazzi Photos Taken Of Britney Spears Paint A Clearer Picture
Many of the photos taken recently of Spears shed light on what truly occurred and lean toward the singer being very much of sound mind in her Instagram videos.
In the shots, published by the Daily Mail, Spears can be seen wearing a long white trench coat and black, thigh-high boots while walking on the tarmac. White-rimmed sunglasses cover the top half of her face, with a large black fedora keeping the sun out of view.
Spears is also seen covering her mouth with a red grill lighter as she chats with an assistant. As seen in the group of photos, Spears never removes the lighter from this area of her face.
To the naked eye, it would appear Spears wasn’t acting erratically but instead was shielding her face from the swarming paparazzi in the area.
What May Be Erratic Social Media Usage To Some Is Britney’s Way Of Displaying Her ‘Freedom’
While concern over Spears’ social media usage is nothing new, the singer has opened up about simply wanting the grace to express some silliness on Instagram now and again.
In her best-selling 2023 memoir, The Woman In Me, the Grammy-winning performer shows her appreciation for other’s consideration of her but also requests the privilege to be herself.
“Freedom means being goofy, silly, and having fun on social media,” she wrote, adding:
“Freedom means taking a break from Instagram without people calling 911. Freedom means being able to make mistakes and [learn] from them. Freedom means I don’t have to perform for anyone — onstage or offstage. Freedom means I get to be as beautifully imperfect as everyone else.”
For those still concerned, a source speaking to Vultureassured the public that Spears is putting her well-being –mentally and physically – first.
“She is sober and does not do drugs,” the insider claims. “She has a glass of wine now and then, but she does not have a substance abuse problem and has people around her to make sure that she stays on the straight and narrow.”
She Is No Longer Comfortable With Being The Center of Attention
Spears' aversion to the paparazzi and media attention has been documented in The Woman In Me, giving even more weight to her recent videos and actions.
In 2007, the pop star made headlines after she shaved her head following an emotional evening involving her two sons and their father, ex-husband Kevin Federline.
Describing herself as being "out of her mind with grief," a frustrated Spears entered an L.A. hair salon, demanded a pair of shears, and began shaving her head.
“I’d been the good girl for years,” Spears recalled in The Woman In Me, adding:
“I smiled politely while TV show hosts leered at my breasts, while American parents said I was destroying their children by wearing a crop top, [and] while executives patted my hand condescendingly and second-guessed my career choices even though I’d sold millions of records. And I was tired of it.”
