With a wide smile, the 40-year-old Schulman spoke about his recent participation in the annual city staple and admitted that while he felt “great” doing it, he still wasn’t in peak physical shape.

“The marathon was hard,” the media personality shared with reporters. “I definitely wasn’t in the shape I really would’ve liked to have been in, but I got to the finish line.”

“That’s all that matters,” he added.

TMZ notes that participating in this year’s marathon had been on Schulman’s to-do list for a while.

With his goal met, Schulman confirms that he still has a way to go in his recovery, including continued physical therapy, but as far as he’s concerned, it’s all about forward momentum.

Schulman’s positive attitude in the face of his accident masks the dire severity of what occurred back in August.

While biking to pick up his son from school, Schulman collided with a truck and became critically injured.

Just days after the accident, Schulman shared his recollection of the harrowing event on his Instagram page.

“Life can change in an instant,” he wrote.

“I never made it to pick up my son from school on the bike. I’m glad I didn’t. I was alone on impact. [just] me and the truck. And then, I guess the pavement. I was alone and unconscious. And then, conscious."

Schulman was then rushed to a Southampton, New York hospital, where doctors treated him for a broken neck.

To his credit, the Catfish host was wearing a helmet when the collision occurred. Had he not, there’s a good chance he might not have survived.

"Stable fractures. I’m not paralyzed,” Nev explained in his post. “My hands were a question mark there for a minute, but the human body is incredible and so are humans.”

A Walking Miracle – Within Days, Nev Schulman Was Back On His Feet

Following surgery on his neck, Schulman immediately started physical therapy, being assisted by hospital workers who helped him regain the ability to walk.

Within days of the accident, he was upright on his own and even managed to walk down the hospital halls without assistance. However, a nurse still accompanied him, just in case.

In photos and videos shared online, Nev documented his miraculous recovery, thanking doctors and his family – wife Laura and his three children – for their support.

“I’m lucky to be here, alive, standing and hugging my family, [and] projected to make a full recovery,” Schulman shared on Instagram. “And I’m really starting to understand the meaning of gratitude – for the big and little things before the accident, and now everything [else] moving forward.”

Proving the adage that “life goes on,” Catfish co-host Kamie Crawford recently announced her departure from the MTV series after six seasons.

The 32-year-old former Miss Teen USA, who joined the series following the exit of photographer Max Joseph in 2018, posted the shock announcement to her social media accounts a little more than a month after Schulman’s accident.

In a statement to fans, Crawford shared the time had come for her to tackle her next “adventure.”

“When I got an email from Catfish‘s production department asking if I wanted to guest co-host two episodes of one of my favorite shows of all time,” Kamie wrote. “I never would’ve imagined the life, love, memories, and worldwide support that it would’ve awarded me.”

“I am so grateful for every single moment spent traveling the country, meeting so many of you, and helping people find love,” she continued, adding:

“My mom has always taught me that, ‘people may not always remember what you said, but they’ll always remember how you made them feel.’ The outpouring of love I receive from Catfish fans around the world lets me know that I have done [that].”

‘Catfish’ Fans Allege There’s ‘Beef’ Between Nev And Kamie Crawford

The timing of Crawford’s Catfish announcement made some fans wonder if rumors of a beef between her and Schulman held any weight.

Additionally, eagle-eyed Reddit users took notice of Nev unfollowing Kamie on Instagram near the period of the statement’s release, adding further speculation to the matter. At the time of this writing, he has since re-followed her.

It is worth noting that neither Crawford nor Schulman have publicly appeared to say anything negative about the experience of working with one another.
