Lyle Menéndez and his wife, Rebecca Sneed, have quietly separated after more than two decades of marriage. Despite rumors of an alleged affair, which Sneed has firmly denied, she remains an important part of his life.
Rebecca, who married Lyle in 2003, announced the news via his Facebook account last week, revealing that the couple had been "separated for a while now."
Following the news, a source close to Lyle Menéndez is speaking out regarding the rumored relationship with a 21-year-old.
Insider Responds To Speculation About Lyle Menéndez And 21-Year-Old Relationship
A source spoke to PEOPLE Magazine about Lyle's reported romantic involvement with Milly Bucksey, a 21-year-old college student from Manchester, England. According to the source, Lyle and Bucksey began their relationship after she reached out to him in prison, though she has only visited him once behind bars.
Reports about their relationship surfaced earlier this month, prompting Sneed to publicly confirm her separation from Lyle. She shared the announcement on a Facebook page she manages for him.
"This is NOT a cheating scandal," she wrote in the post. "Lyle and I have been separated for a while now but remain best friends and family. I continue to run his Facebook pages, with input from him, and I am forever committed to the enduring fight for Lyle and Erik’s freedom, as has been so evident over the years."

Last week, reports surfaced that convicted murderer Lyle is reportedly involved in a secretive relationship with 21-year-old British university student Bucksey, whom he met online.
According to insiders who spoke with DailyMail, the 56-year-old inmate is so captivated by Bucksey that he has expressed a desire to divorce his wife, Sneed, whom he married in 2003—just a month before Bucksey was born. However, as The Blast reported, Sneed said the two have already been separated for quite some time.
The relationship allegedly began earlier this year when Lyle noticed Bucksey in a Facebook group dedicated to him, managed by Sneed. Using an alias at first, Lyle later revealed his true identity, sparking a connection with the young student. Their relationship reportedly intensified, culminating in a scandal at the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego, California. Prison guards allegedly caught Lyle with a contraband cell phone he had been using to stay in touch with Bucksey.

The incident involving Lyle's contraband cell phone was detailed in a resentencing memo filed by ousted Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón in late October. According to DailyMail, the document stated Lyle was caught with the phone on March 15 in the shared cell he occupies with multiple other inmates.
Despite this violation, DailyMail has uncovered that Lyle has since managed to obtain a second illicit cell phone. Sources allege he has been using the device to maintain communication with 21-year-old Bucksey, a University of Manchester student.

Lyle, along with his brother Erik Menéndez, is serving a life sentence for the 1989 murders of their parents, Kitty and José Menéndez.
The shocking crime unfolded on August 20, 1989, when 21-year-old Lyle and 18-year-old Erik gunned down their parents in the family’s opulent Beverly Hills mansion. Using shotguns purchased just days prior, the brothers carried out the murders in a case that dominated headlines and became one of the most sensationalized trials of the decade.
Now, nearly 35 years after the crime, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón has recommended that the brothers be resentenced, a move that could pave the way for their eligibility for parole.
This development comes on the heels of newly uncovered evidence suggesting the brothers suffered abuse at the hands of their father. The findings have prompted the District Attorney's office to reconsider the original convictions entirely, raising the possibility of their release.
California Judge Postpones Resentencing Hearing
A California judge has postponed the much-anticipated resentencing hearing for Erik and Joseph "Lyle" Menéndez, the Beverly Hills brothers serving life sentences without parole for the 1989 murders of their parents.
The delay follows a request by outgoing Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón, who urged the court to reconsider the brothers' sentences just weeks before Election Day. Gascón was subsequently defeated by independent candidate Nathan Hochman, who is set to take office on December 2.
Judge Michael Jesic announced that the December 11 hearing would be rescheduled for late January, citing "respect for the new administration" and confirming that both parties agreed to the postponement.
