NFL Sends Security Alert To Teams After String Of Burglaries, Including Patrick Mahomes’ Home

This week, the NFL issued a security alert to teams and the players' union in response to a series of burglaries.

The Belton Police Department in Missouri was notified of the break-in at Mahomes' home shortly after midnight on October 6. In the case of Travis Kelce, it’s estimated that he lost around $100,000 in jewelry, including his first-ever Super Bowl jersey. Patrick Mahomes also fell victim, with a number of valuable items taken, including jerseys, medals, trophies, and awards. The thieves also stole personal belongings from Mahomes’ wife, Brittany, including her jewelry and designer bags.

In a statement, the Leawood Police Department said they "will not comment on any open investigations."

"Our agency follows up on all investigative leads and works closely with victims to solve open cases," they said. "The Leawood Police Department is dedicated to the public we serve and will work tirelessly to ensure the City of Leawood remains one of the safest cities in the State of Kansas.”

According to multiple sources speaking with FOX4, law enforcement officials suspect that the culprits are part of a South American crime ring targeting high-profile residences. "This is a sophisticated operation. It’s not some guy that’s going down to the local pawn shop," security expert Mike Barbieri explained.

“It doesn’t surprise me at all that this crime spree that is going across the entire country is designed by some very sophisticated people in somewhat of a cartel," he continued. "If you have a particular individual that’s an athlete, a wealthy CEO, you can find out just about anything you need to find out about these people online."

Reports indicate that burglars broke into Patrick Mahomes' Belton mansion around midnight on October 6, with a similar break-in occurring at Travis Kelce's Kansas home just hours later. These incidents are believed to be part of a broader wave of criminal activity in the area.

The investigations into the robberies are ongoing, with the FBI working alongside local authorities to solve the case. While no arrests have been made yet, authorities confirmed that Kelce lost $20,000 in cash during the break-in.
