Nikita Hand, the woman who accused Conor McGregor of rape, has claimed she always knew she would win the civil lawsuit against the former UFC champion.

She accused McGregor and another man, identified as James Lawrence, of rape, alleging that the pair had sex with her against her will after a 2018 Christmas party.

McGregor's rape accuser has opened up on the reason why she has always been confident of a victory in her civil lawsuit against him.

According to the Daily Mail, Hand sat down for an interview with The Irish Mail on Sunday, where she noted that she expected to win because she was telling the "truth from day one," adding that the ruling means her young daughter doesn't have to grow up in a world where she has to "shut up and say nothing."

Speaking about how she felt after the win, she said, "I am just exhausted, to be honest with you, I'm just exhausted," adding that she is "just trying to kind of take it day-by-day now."

"I'm just very overwhelmed with the support as well, now, that I have received," she said of the supportive messages she has received since the jury awarded her damages in her case.

On whether she expected to win, Hand said, "To win? Yeah, yes, yes. Yes, because my story is true. I always believed in my heart that I would [win]."

"Obviously, with the DPP, that didn't work out, but yeah, I always felt like I was gonna win because I was telling the truth from day one, you know," she added, referring to the decision of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) not to proceed with a criminal trial.

According to the Daily Mail, prosecutors in the civil lawsuit have revealed that the reason why they didn't pursue a criminal case against the MMA fighter was because Hand had consumed too much alcohol and too many drugs.

The fact that a "very high standard of proof" would be needed, as well as things such as the reliability and consistency of witnesses, were brought up as the reason they didn't pursue a criminal case.

Also, Hand had no recollection of having sex with Lawrence, the amount of alcohol and drugs she consumed, and her demeanor in the CCTV footage were all factors that led to their decision.

According to the news outlet, both McGregor and Lawrence were taken into consideration to determine if the evidence they had would be enough to prosecute either of them, including examining the available evidence, including the admissibility of evidence, and the sufficiency and strength of the evidence that would be presented at trial.

The letter read, "The prosecution must prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the suspect did it. The suspect does not have to prove their innocence."
