Piers Morgan has mocked Ellen DeGeneres over her reported decision to relocate to England in response to Donald Trump's presidential victory.
The former talk show host reportedly fled the country with her wife for a more rural life in the Cotswolds area outside London.
The move comes after Ellen DeGeneres's TV career took a big hit when she was accused of fostering a toxic and oppressive work environment.
Piers Morgan Mocks Ellen DeGeneres' UK Relocation
Amid reports that DeGeneres and her wife Portia De Rossi have fled the country, reportedly due to Donald Trump's landslide victory at the November 5 election, Piers Morgan has taken the opportunity to make jest of the former talk show host.
On X (formerly Twitter), the controversial news personality quoted a post about the couple's relocation with the caption, "OMG... No!"
DeGeneres and De Rossi seemingly uprooted their lives in the Santa Barbara area to settle for a rural setting in Cotswolds, a star-studded community in southwest England that sits 100 miles outside of London.
According to The Wrap, sources shared that the move may be permanent for the foreseeable future as she plans to place her Montecito mansion on the market. One source also noted that the married couple's move came as a result of Trump's win at the polls.
X Users Celebrate The Former Talk Show Host's Relocation
Morgan's comments also prompted several individuals to share their reactions to the news, with many suggesting that her exit from the U.S. was the best option for her.
A person wrote, "Yes, Piers, she's all yours. You gave us Harry & Meagan, so we're returning the favor. Payback's a b-tch."
Another X user said, "She's all yours, Piers! America's gift to our former colonial masters."
A third user remarked, "Good Riddance. The UK and Brits can have them. They'll fit right in with the current regime."
"My deepest sympathies to Britain Piers. But if it's any consolation, remember that we're still stuck with Harry & Meghan, so comparatively speaking, we got a much worse deal," another person remarked.
Ellen DeGeneres And Her Wife Were 'Very Disillusioned' After Donald Trump's Win
Meanwhile, it remains uncertain if the couple actually fled the country because of Trump's victory at the polls as a source shared that they had purchased the home months before the elections held.
Before now, the couple had traveled to England to see the property, with the source telling The Sun that DeGeneres "has fallen in love with the property in the Cotswolds."
"She has been on the lookout for a house in the area and often visits her celebrity pals," they added. "A Cotswolds house has become a status symbol in the celebrity world, and Ellen wanted to join the pack."
DeGeneres and de Rossi have seemingly settled down in their new neighborhood as they were spotted visiting Clarkson's pub in the Cotswolds last week.
According to TMZ, an insider shared that DeGeneres and De Rossi became "very disillusioned" after Trump's victory, with another adding that they'd vowed "to get the hell out" of the country afterward.
The couple's new home boasts of A-list neighbors like David and Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss, Patrick Stewart, Elizabeth Hurley, Jeremy Clarkson, and Damien Hirst, among many others.
Ellen Degeneres' Career Took A Hit
DeGeneres's 16-year media career has since taken a hit after reports emerged suggesting she fostered a toxic work environment, starkly contrasting the "be kind" mantra she was known for on set.
Back in 2020, a Buzzfeed News report emerged in which several of them anonymously detailed their experiences working for her, alleging that she was oppressive and racist towards them—a second report detailed instances of alleged sexual misconduct involving the show's three top producers.
Earlier this year, she weighed in on her unceremonious exit from the screens while performing her standup routine at the Largo in Los Angeles, where she joked about getting "kicked out of show business" for being "mean."
Noting that she'd become the "most hated person in America," she went on to admit that the scrutiny reduced her television persona into another thing entirely.
"The hate went on for a long time, and I would try to avoid looking at the news," she recalled, per People Magazine. "The 'be kind' girl wasn't kind. That was the headline."
Referencing how she ended her talk show each day by saying, "Be kind to one another," DeGeneres joked that it became a "problem" because people started to think of her as a "one-dimensional character who gave stuff away and danced up steps."
The Comedian And Her Wife Are Dancing Again After Going Through A Difficult Period
DeGeneres was asked if she continued to "dance" during the ordeal as she'd been known for, but the comedian admitted that she was unable to.
"No... It's hard to dance when you're crying," she said, adding that she "had a hard time" and "didn't get out" amid the scandal.
She later shared that she was able to go through the trying phase with the help of De Rossi and that they're both "dancing now."
"I'm making jokes about what happened to me, but it was devastating," she said. "It took a long time for me to want to do anything again."
