JoJo Siwa And Dakayla Wilson Call It Quits Just 3 Months After Going Public

JoJo Siwa and Dakayla Wilson have decided to go their “separate ways.”
Siwa, who came out as LGBTQ in January, first hinted at her sexuality through a series of TikTok and Instagram posts. Fans began speculating after she lip-synced to Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" during a day with the TikTok collective Pride House LA.
More recently, Siwa started dating Dakayla Wilson, making their relationship public on August 14. The couple’s debut came through Siwa’s Instagram Stories, where she shared a clip of Wilson dancing in front of a mirror during a dance class.
However, JoJo Siwa revealed at the 11th Annual American Reality Television Awards that she and Dakayla Wilson have decided to spend the holidays apart.
JoJo Siwa And Dakayla Wilson Go Their 'Separate Ways'
JoJo Siwa initially hesitated to share her next relationship publicly, but everything shifted when she met Dakayla Wilson. At the premiere of Hulu’s docuseries "Child Star," directed by Demi Lovato, Siwa and Wilson discussed their choice to go public, explaining how their connection gave them the confidence to share their relationship with the world.
However, three months later, the two have split. “We have gone our separate ways, but she is an amazing girl,” Siwa shared with PEOPLE Magazine. “And I got my own fun holiday plans, and I know she's got her family that she's spent the holidays with.”
“I'm happy for her that she has [them],” she added.
The timeline of JoJo Siwa and Dakayla Wilson's relationship before going public remains unclear. Siwa’s previous relationship with TikTok star Avery Cyrus ended in December 2022 after three months, with both agreeing that "we are better off as friends!"
JoJo Siwa Comes Out As Part Of The LGBTQ Community
In January, JoJo Siwa publicly came out as LGBTQ through a series of TikTok and Instagram posts.
"I still don't know what I am. It's like, I want to figure it out. And I have this joke. Her name is Kylie. And so I say that I'm Ky-sexual," she said at the time, per PEOPLE Magazine. "But like, I don't know, bisexual, pansexual, queer, lesbian, gay, straight. I always just say gay because it just kind of covers it or queer because I think the keyword is cool."
"I like queer," she added. "Technically, I would say that I am pansexual because that's how I have always been my whole life is just like, my human is my human."
JoJo Siwa Opens Up About Mental Health
JoJo Siwa recently got candid about her mental health journey, sharing the highs and lows of navigating life in the spotlight.
"My struggles deal with being overworked and not getting any sleep," Siwa said. "Do I ever have breakdowns? Yes, of course I do. I'm a teenager. There are a lot of times where I just will throw my phone down and lay on my bed and look at the ceiling and cry for a second."
JoJo Siwa Alleges Nickelodeon Snubbed Her After Coming Out As LGBTQ+
JoJo Siwa is among several former child stars featured in Demi Lovato's documentary, "Child Star," now streaming on Hulu.
In the film, the "Dance Moms" alum reflects on signing an umbrella deal and candidly shares how publicly coming out as part of the LGBTQIA+ community in January 2021 negatively affected her career. “I didn’t realize I guess that no child star — who is still a child star — had ever come out before," she told Demi. "The president of the network called me and was like, ‘What are we going to tell the kids? What are we going to tell kids and parents?’"
"And he was like, ‘Well you need to have a call with every retailer and tell them you are not going crazy,'” she alleged. “So I did and I had a call with every retailer. ”
Siwa then said, “Everything after I had come out had changed," including the "way they communicated with me, worked with me, and how they developed my work."
JoJo Siwa Claims Snub From 2022 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards
The dancer shared with Demi that she was excluded from the 2022 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, despite previously being involved in several of the network’s events before coming out. She went on to accuse Nickelodeon of blackballing her.
“A lot of you have been asking me why I’m not at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards tonight,” she alleged in a video shared on social media at the time. “And the answer is very simple: I wasn’t invited. I’m not sure why. But I didn’t just get an invite.”
A source close to Nickelodeon told Variety that JoJo's absence from the event as an "honest mistake."
