Kim Zolciak and her estranged husband, Kroy Biermann, are practically racing against time to save their property from slipping away.
The reality star and her former spouse have reportedly decided to do a serious price slash as part of a last-minute effort to sell off their Georgia home and prevent the bank from bagging it.
Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann are currently going through hard financial times amid their equally draining divorce process laced with cohabitation problems.
Kim Zolciak And Kroy Biermann's House Gets A $300k Price Cut To Hasten Sale
The expansive 7-bedroom, 11-bathroom mansion with a massive pool sitting on over 15,000 square feet will now go for a market price of $3.65 million.
Online records show that the estranged couple reduced the selling price by $300k to make it more attractive to potential buyers, compared to their original listing of $6 million in October 2023.
The price slash is reportedly part of their one last push to save the house from being auctioned off via foreclosure by December 3. This is not their first attempt at salvaging the property, which was on the verge of foreclosure the first time 2 months before they filed their divorce petitions.
TMZ confirmed that the estranged couple fought tooth and nail to delay the initial auction for months, but their financial trouble did not get any better as they also encountered cohabitation problems in the same space.
The Estranged Couple's Community Association Filed A Lien Against The Property
As if the fear of foreclosure was not enough, their community association served the mansion with a lien of $8,972 last month, referencing unpaid assessment and late fees.
According to The Blast, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) previously served Zolciak and Biermann with a massive tax lien. The body claimed the estranged pair owed taxes for 2013, 2017, and 2018, amassing a massive debt of $1.1 million.
The IRS did not file a release of the lien, but the couple were further slammed with accusations of owing $15,000 in unpaid taxes to the state of Georgia. Truist Bank joined the list of creditors when the establishment tried to foreclose the duo's mansion.
Last October, the reality stars filed a petition against the bank to stop a scheduled foreclosure auction. The couple demanded to oversee the sale of their home themselves, claiming that the proceeds could ease their financial ordeals.
The 'RHOA' Star's Estranged Husband Attempted To Eliminate Her From The Property's Sale Chain
Biermann attempted to legally sideline his estranged wife from the home sale after claiming she was stalling the very urgent process. According to him, they finally got a buyer willing to cash in the home for $3.5 million, but Zolciak was adamant about receiving anything below $3.85 million.
Judging by their current situation and the price tag on the house, Zolciak does not have that much of a choice should they see a willing buyer. The approaching bank foreclosure forced Biermann to make the request as he claimed that his estranged wife's refusal might cost them everything.
Biermann filed for an emergency hearing and asked the court to give him complete control over the sale. He stated that Zolciak needed to be removed from the decision-making table due to her out-of-control spending habits.
He also noted that his name on the mortgage placed him at risk of severe credit damage if they lost the property to foreclosure.
The Former Athlete Claimed To Owe Legal Fees Running Into Tens Of Thousands Of Dollars
Biermann's divorce lawyer, Ryan Proctor, provided documents proving he owed the law firm a huge amount of money. Per The Blast, the legal rep explained that the retired athlete amassed a total debt of $79,000 as of October 17, with the most recent invoice being a $18,100 bill.
Proctor clarified that the new bill resulted from Biermann's desire to lessen his financial burdens. The attorney charged him for over three hours of work to research bankruptcy options in late August.
The legal practitioner worked throughout September, examining the pros and cons of bankruptcy for the former athlete. On September 10, the pair discussed a "bankruptcy strategy" over a lengthy phone call.
Biermann also reportedly called him for three hours about a potential bankruptcy filing on September 11. Two days later, the former Atlanta Falcons player engaged his lawyer for another hour and a half about the possible bankruptcy.
Kim Zolciak Claimed Kroy Biermann Was Invading Her Privacy In Their Shared Home
On their cohabitation problems, things escalated in October when the Bravo star accused her estranged husband of spying on her within their home. She attached photo evidence of Biermann passed out in her closet after allegedly keeping tabs on her.
The reality star also accused him of frequently invading her private space whenever she was away and even disabled her security systems. Insiders shared that Zolciak installed the security cameras to stop Biermann from spying on her, but he removed all.
The "RHOA" alum stressed in her motions that his actions completely disregarded the judge's order about their living arrangements amid their divorce. A judge had ordered Zolciak to stay in the basement of their home while Biermann got to keep the main bedroom.
Will Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann beat the deadline and finally fix a part of their financial issues?
