Prince Harry's confession about his past struggles with substance abuse continues to spark controversy, as his residency status in the United States is now in question.

According to top immigration lawyers, Harry's admission of drug-taking could jeopardize his visa eligibility as he'd have been required to declare it in his visa application, potentially leading to deportation proceedings after President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration.

Prince Harry and Donald Trump's relationship isn't good, as the billionaire politician said he "wouldn't protect" the duke if he won a second term because he "betrayed the Queen."

Harry's U.S. visa has been under scrutiny after he admitted to using cocaine, marijuana, and psychedelic mushrooms in his 2023 blockbuster memoir, "Spare."

Lawyers conversant with immigration laws have now revealed that the Duke of Sussex could face deportation if he failed to disclose his past drug use on his visa application, something he'd have been required to do.

According to the Daily Mail, Beverly Hills attorney Alphonse Provinziano, a top lawyer with years of experience working on international family law disputes for the affluent, believes Harry faces a major task keeping his residency status valid over the next four years of President Trump's administration, especially "if he lied on his visa application."

"One unlikely loser of the 2024 U.S. presidential election is Prince Harry. Trump has repeatedly said that he thinks Harry should not be allowed to stay in the United States since he 'betrayed the Queen' and possibly was not forthcoming about his past drug use on his visa application," Provinziano said.

He continued, "Prince Harry's lawyers will be busy over the next four years, as Trump has made it quite clear that if he returned to office, he would seek to have Harry removed from the country."

The expert lawyer added that the Biden administration "had shielded Harry" but that Trump "may have the upper hand" if the former working royal "was not forthcoming about his past drug use on his visa application."

Donald Trump Could Make The Duke's Deportation A Priority

Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, notably relocated to the U.S. after dropping their senior working royal roles in 2020 following a fallout with the British Monarchy.

Although Meghan is a U.S. citizen and his two children, Archie and Lilibet, are both dual citizens of the U.S and U.K., reports suggest incoming president Trump could still evict him from the country if the information he declared on his visa application doesn't tally with what he claimed in his memoir.

Part of Trump's notable campaign promises was to tighten the border and come down hard on residents who are staying in the country illegally.

If Harry happens to have misrepresented his drug use on his visa application, Provinziano says it "could be grounds for the government to pursue his deportation."

He continued, "The Trump administration had vowed to remove those not here lawfully, and Prince Harry may be on the chopping block."

"If it is revealed that Harry misrepresented himself on his application or was granted special accommodations generally unavailable to others with similar histories, there could be a public outcry," Provinziano noted. "It may appear unfair, especially considering the many people who seek lawful entry to the United States and are subject to strict considerations."

According to the Daily Mail, the rift between the president-elect and the Duke of Sussex began during the 2016 elections when Meghan called Trump "divisive" and "misogynistic," while he retorted that she was a "nasty" person.

The billionaire politician claimed in February that should he win re-election, he "wouldn't protect" Harry because he "betrayed the Queen."

"That's unforgivable. He would be on his own if it was down to me," Trump said.

He seemingly relayed the same sentiment in an interview with Nigel Farage, declaring that he would take "appropriate action" if Harry were found to have lied.

Besides Trump, the billionaire mogul's son, Eric Trump, also once attacked the royal couple during an interview with British media outlet GB News.

"What I can tell you is, my father had so much respect for the queen, as did I. My mum knew so many of them for years and had a great relationship with Diana," Eric said. "It's a sacred institution. You can happily have those two [Meghan and Harry], we might not want them anymore, it feels like they're on an island of their own."

In not-so-subtle words, he also mentioned that Harry and Meghan have stood out among the royal family, but not in a good way.

Eric added, "You can always have bad actors in everything. You can have spoiled apples in every orchard."

Calls For The Duke's Visa Application Documents To Be Made Public Mount

It comes amid mounting calls for Harry's visa application documents to be made public following his drug use admittance in "Spare."

The Heritage Foundation's Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom had been fighting for Harry's visa documents to be made public in a legal battle with the Department of Homeland Security.

However, a judge ruled in September that the documents should be kept private as he enjoyed the protection of Biden's administration. Things may soon change, with Trump taking over in January.

Nile Gardiner, Director of The Heritage Foundation's Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom, said that there's a "strong possibility" that the details would be released sometime soon following Trump's victory at the polls.

"I do think there's a strong possibility that this could happen. It's the president's prerogative," Gardiner said. "Also, the new Homeland Security Secretary could order a review of Harry's immigration application."

"There are multiple things that could happen, but it would be in the best interests of the American people if the Trump administration releases Prince Harry's records for public scrutiny, and Harry should be held to account," he added.
