Jamie Lee Curtis Quits X After The Guardian Slams Platform's 'Far-Right Conspiracy Theories And Racism'
On Wednesday, Jamie Lee Curtis decided to delete her X account after being a vocal supporter of Kamala Harris in the 2024 Presidential election. She announced the news to her followers over Instagram with a screenshot of her deactivated caption.
“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change," she wrote in the caption. "Courage to change the things I can. And the wisdom to know the difference.”
Comments on the post were deactivated, but the post did receive almost 30,000 likes approximately one hour after posting.

On Wednesday, The Guardian released a statement announcing that they were stepping away from X. "We wanted to let readers know that we will no longer post on any official Guardian editorial accounts on the social media site X (formerly Twitter)," they wrote in a lengthy statement. "We think that the benefits of being on X are now outweighed by the negatives and that resources could be better used promoting our journalism elsewhere."
"This is something we have been considering for a while given the often disturbing content promoted or found on the platform, including far-right conspiracy theories and racism," the statement continued. "The US presidential election campaign served only to underline what we have considered for a long time: that X is a toxic media platform and that its owner, Elon Musk, has been able to use its influence to shape political discourse."
Jamie Lee Curtis Reacts To U.S. Election Results
On November 6, the "Freaky Friday" actress took to Instagram to address the election results. She noted that "Many will be celebrating, possibly even gloating over their victory," but went on to write, "Many will be stunned and sad with the terrible feelings of the loss. That is the same result despite who wins because that's what America and democracy look like. Has always looked like."
She expressed concern that a Donald Trump presidency means "a sure return to a more restrictive, some fear draconian time. Many fear their rights will be impeded and denied. Many, minority groups and young people will be afraid. Gay and trans people will be more afraid."
"We know that many women will now find it difficult to get the reproductive healthcare that they need and deserve. For all those people there will be those who will help you," she continued. "Me included."
'But What It Really Means Is That We Wake Up And Fight'

Although Kamala Harris lost many of the swing states and the popular vote, Curtis implored her followers not to lose hope. "But what it really means is that we wake up and fight. Fight for women and our children and their futures and fight against tyranny, one day at a time," she wrote. "One fight at a time. One protest at a time. That's what it means to be an American. That's what it has always meant and will always mean regardless of the outcome."
She concluded her lengthy statement, writing, "Be gentle with people today. Be gentle with yourself today. Feel your feelings today but most of all.....Be an American today."

Although many are wondering what a Donald Trump administration will look like, X owner Elon Musk will have a hand in it. On Tuesday, CNN reported that Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will lead a new “Department of Government Efficiency” in the Trump administration.
“Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies,” Trump said in a statement announcing the news.
Last August, Musk posted a photo of himself behind a podium with the caption, “I am willing to serve.”
