Meghan McCain Slams 'The View' For Lack Of Political Diversity After Donald Trump's Win

Donald Trump's victory in the 2024 presidential election has Meghan McCain reflecting on her former TV show, "The View."
The daughter of late Senator John McCain called out the program and her former co-hosts for lacking political diversity. She believed they should have had at least one person rooting for Trump on the panel.
Meghan McCain starred on the show from 2017 until 2021, when she willingly left. She has been vocal about having a tumultuous relationship with the ABC program and her ex-colleagues.
Meghan McCain Calls Out 'The View' For Not Having A 'Conservative' Panelist
McCain called out her former workplace on X for failing to be unbiased during the election season. All the panelists voted for Kamala Harris — a situation the columnist slammed, writing:
"It is actual malfeasance on the part of ABC news that there isn't one single conservative woman on The View this morning who voted for Trump or simply isn't repulsed by his supporters to explain to America why he is still so popular."
Her words sparked similar reactions from X users, with someone claiming, "That's why it's called 'the view.' They only accept the received view." Another echoed, "@TheView is such an unpleasant show to watch. Honestly, I think it gives Americans brain damage."
Others noted the creator of "The View," Barbara Walters, would be disappointed by what the show has become. "It's long past time for @TheView to be canceled @ABC," a critic added.
Did McCain Vote For Donald Trump?

Despite criticizing "The View" for not having a Trump supporter on its panel, McCain did not vote for the President-elect. After years of being a Republican, she bowed out from voting during the 2024 elections.
"I greatly respect the wide variety of political opinions of all of my family members and love them all very much," McCain wrote in a September post on X, adding:
"I, however, remain a proud member of the Republican Party and hope for brighter days ahead. (Not voting for Harris or Trump, hope that clears things up)."
The Columnist Claims She Would Never Return To The ABC Show

Earlier this year, McCain shut down speculations that she might return to the TV program. She stressed that "there's not a chance in hell" producers would ask her to come back, and she preferred it that way.
McCain joined the New York-based show in 2017 with panelists Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, and Ana Navarro. When she left in 2021, she claimed she wished to make Washington, D.C., a permanent home for her family.
While addressing why she wouldn't return to the show, McCain confessed she had a complicated relationship with her ex-colleagues. She told Page Six in May:
"I don't talk to any of the main co-hosts that I was with, but I still do have friends that work on the show and people that I made relationships with."

McCain's poor relationship with her former co-hosts was evident in December 2023. The Blast reported that she slammed the panel during a podcast appearance for calling her out during the show.
"This afternoon, I was picking my daughter up from school, and I had a few friends text me that Ana Navarro had compared me to Hunter Biden and alluded on air that I had basically done the exact same thing Hunter Biden has done," McCain recalled.
"I'm being accused of crimes on ABC News, and it's serious," she continued, noting she might sue them for slander. "I can't go like a week without something being said about me on this show."
She continued, "The thing about 'The View' is that I didn't know when I signed my contract with ABC that this is forever. That for the rest of my life, I'm going to be bullied, yelled at, abused, and brought up for years. I haven't been on that show in years!"
Meghan McCain Called Her Former Co-Hosts 'Crazy Old People'
McCain stressed that she had not thought about the show or her former colleagues in months, yet they could not forget about her. "Apparently, I am just on their minds every day. And it's pathetic," she claimed.
"I just didn't know that when I signed to do this show that I'd have to deal with, like, these crazy old people just yelling about me all the time," the columnist added. She echoed similar sentiments on X, partly writing:
"I don't understand why my former colleagues @TheView @ABC bring me up and slander me on an almost weekly basis. It has been years - move on, I have. I have never been accused of a crime in my life and am a patriotic American."
