Like many artists who supported Vice President Kamala Harris in her unsuccessful attempt to prevent former President Donald Trump from reclaiming the White House, Sabrina Carpentertook the stage on Wednesday night (November 6) with a heavy heart.
Earlier that day, HeadCount recognized Sabrina Carpenter as the top artist in the 2024 cycle for registering and engaging the most voters.
Sabrina Carpenter Tells Seattle Fans ‘Sorry About Our Country’
During her performance at Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena, Carpenter avoided mentioning Trump by name but offered words of comfort to fans who might feel discouraged by the election results.
In fan-captured videos, she can be seen kneeling on stage, speaking to the crowd.
“I hope we can be a moment of peace for you, a moment of safety,” she said. “Sorry about our country, and to the women here, I love you so, so, so much. I really hope that for the rest of this night, you can enjoy yourselves because you absolutely deserve it.”
Sabrina Carpenter Helps To Register More Voters In This Year's Election Than Any Other Artist
Earlier in the day, HeadCount reported that Carpenter engaged and registered more voters in this year’s election than any other artist partnered with the organization. She inspired 35,814 people to register and encouraged another 263,087 voters to take additional actions, such as checking their registration status and locating their polling places.
“Through our partnerships with over 100 top music artists — like Sabrina Carpenter, Green Day, Ariana Grande, and so many others — HeadCount had a record-breaking year, registering over 450,000 new voters and engaging over 3 million more people to make sure they vote,” Lucille Wenegieme, executive director of HeadCount, said in a statement, per The Hollywood Reporter.
She continued, “Our model works because musicians and celebrities have a cultural cache and an intimate connection with their fans, especially among young people, whose identity as a fan of a particular artist can be even stronger than other aspects of their identity, including affiliation with a political party or candidate. We are so grateful to our artist partners and their teams for inspiring their fans to take control of their future by voting.”
Billie Eilish Calls Donald Trump A 'Convicted Predator'
While Carpenter did not mention Trump's name directly at her show, Billie Eilish, a known Harris supporter, spoke more bluntly about Trump’s victory during her performance in Nashville on Wednesday night.
Eilish, also without directly naming him, referred to Trump as a “convicted predator” and alluded to the twice-impeached President-elect as someone who “hates women so, so deeply,” highlighting her dismay at his return to office as the first convicted felon to ascend to the nation’s highest position.
In 2023, former President Trump was found liable for sexually abusing and defaming advice columnist E. Jean Carroll in an incident dating back to 1996, and he was ordered to pay nearly $5 million in damages. In a related case, Trump was also ordered to pay an additional $83.3 million.
Over the years, more than two dozen women have accused Trump of sexual misconduct, with allegations dating as far back as the 1970s. Trump has denied all allegations of abuse and is appealing the verdicts in the Carroll cases.
America Ferrera Is Reportedly Planning On Fleeing The U.S.
Several Hollywood stars have expressed plans to leave the U.S. following Trump’s victory over Harris, including "Barbie" actress America Ferrera, who is reportedly considering relocating to provide a better life for her children.
The 40-year-old, known for her role in "Ugly Betty," is said to be exploring a move to the UK with her husband, Ryan Piers Williams, along with their son, Sebastian, 6, and daughter, Lucia, 4.
“America is sick that Donald Trump is President again,” an insider told Daily Mail. “She is devastated that Kamala lost. She thought the country she lived in was better than that.”
Donald Trump Makes History With Presidential Election Win
This election marks a historic milestone in U.S. history, as Trump becomes the first President-elect with a criminal conviction.
In May of this year, a jury found the 77-year-old guilty on charges related to a 2016 hush money payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels.
This verdict, reached on May 30, 2024, concluded years of investigations, making Trump the first president to enter office with a felony on his record.
