After it was revealed that former President Donald J. Trump had clinched victory in the 2024 presidential election, rapper Cardi B, whose real name is Belcalis Cephus, went off on a fiery rant on Instagram, slamming Americans for the choice they made.
Trump, who now becomes the second president in American history to serve two nonconsecutive terms, also holds the distinction of being the first convicted felon elected to the nation’s highest office.
This result has sparked impassioned responses across the world, and one of the loudest reactions came from rapper Cardi B.
'WAP' Rapper Cardi B Takes To Instagram Following Election Results
Cardi B took to Instagram Live shortly after learning the election results, delivering an emotional, unfiltered response to her millions of followers. The artist, known for her outspoken personality, expressed disappointment and frustration with the outcome, sharply criticizing the election process and urging her fans to stay politically engaged.
“I swear to god I’m gonna f–k you up, get away from me,” she said, per The New York Post, during the video with more than 37,000 viewers. “I’m sick of you! Burn you’re f–king hats motherf–ker. I’m really sad. I swear to god, I’m really sad.”
Cardi B, who appeared at a rally with Kamala Harris days before the election, then expressed that she feels “proud” of the vice president.
“No matter what, I know that she’s probably emotional right now. I know there’s probably a lot going on in her mind and I know she’s not listening to this, but she will eventually see it,” she said. “I just hope she knows, no matter what happens tonight, millions of people are proud of her. Women around the world are proud of her. Women of color are proud of her.”
Cardi B Said Kamala Harris Was 'Not Playing Any Games'
The night proved challenging for Vice President Kamala Harris who underperformed in key swing states that President Joe Biden had won in 2020. Falling short in states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin, Harris’s campaign saw her early leads wane as election night wore on.
“When I look at her face, and she was talking to me, I thought she was very genuine and not playing any f–king games,” Cardi B added on her Instagram Live. “She had 100 days to do all of this and she woke this nation up. I feel there was a lot of things that went wrong last year and they kept her too much in the background.”
Cardi B Said She Is 'Proud' Of Kamala Harris
In a solemn moment, Harris made the decision to send her supporters home early Wednesday morning without a public address, leaving many waiting for her next move.
“I’m proud of her and I hope she’s proud of herself no matter what happens tonight. This is one of the most unforgettable elections and I love her," the rapper continued. "I don’t say I love a lot of people, y’all know that. Because I hate everybody.”
A statement from her campaign indicated that she is expected to address the nation later today, Wednesday, November 6.
Cardi B Speaks At Kamala Harris Rally Ahead Of Election
Cardi B took to the stage at a rally for Vice President Kamala Harris in Milwaukee, voicing her support and energizing the crowd in the final stretch before Election Day.
“I’ve been waiting for this moment my whole life,” Cardi B told the crowd at the Wisconsin State Fair Exposition Center. “I do not take lightly the call to show up, the call to speak up, the call to deliver a message that’s been on my heart a hot minute now.”
“Just like Kamala Harris, I too have been the underdog, I’ve been underestimated, my success belittled and discredited. Let me tell you something: Women have to work ten times harder, perform ten times better, and still people question us, how we got to the top. I can’t stand a bully, but just like Kamala, I always stand up to one.”
Kamala Harris Expected To Address The Nation On Wednesday, November 6
As the nation processes the significance of Trump’s historic return to office, political analysts are already examining the reasons behind Harris’s defeat. Key factors likely include an evolving electorate in traditionally Democratic regions, economic anxieties, and the shifting sentiments in suburban and rural areas.
For now, the country awaits Kamala Harris’s response as she prepares to address her supporters and the nation on what may come next.
