'RHOBH' Teddi Mellencamp Breaks Silence On Sharing Divorce Decision On Social Media

Teddi Mellencamp has given a situation report after filing for divorce from Edwin Arroyave. The reality star updated the public on her podcast after announcing her divorce from her husband of 13 years.

Teddi Mellencamp cited irreconcilable differences as her reason for filing for separation from Edwin Arroyave on Friday.

The Bravo star caught up with her podcast co-host and "RHOBH" alum Tamra Judge, who queried how she was coping with life as a separated single woman after over a decade of marriage. Mellencamp answered that she was doing alright, adding:

"At this point, I'm obviously only gonna share what I shared on social media," she began. "And I just am trying — I don't even know how to say this eloquently — but I am just trying my hardest to make sure that my kids' privacy is protected right now and that we're able to have all these conversations."

She declared that she did not want the whole divorce news to blow out of proportion, adding that the situation required a statement from her because of her famous status and the public nature of her filing which makes the news public.

Judge charged everyone to refrain from sending negative and hateful comments to Mellencamp as the issue is quite sensitive.

"Yeah, and I know I am gonna keep working on feeling my best so that I can show up for the best of my kids and my life and my work. I mean, I think that's the biggest thing for me right now," the TV personality added.

The Blast shared that Mellencamp announced her decision to pull the plug on her marriage in an Instagram post, stating that it was necessary to help safeguard her family from false reports.

"After a great deal of care and consideration, I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce," the statement began. "My priority is my children and ensuring that every care is taken with their privacy and wellbeing throughout this new chapter," she began.

The screen goddess explained that she is convinced being open and honest about the divorce is the best way to go, adding: "making a public statement is not something I wanted to do, but in an effort to protect my family from undue speculation and rumors."

Mellencamp and Arroyave have been down the road of divorce in 2017, although they did not follow through with their decision to separate.

The mom-of-three filed in court on Friday, indicating October 20th as the official date of separation from the reality star.

The estranged couple demanded primary and legal custody of their three children- Slate, Cruz, and 4-year-old Dave with a clause of "reasonable and frequent" visitation for her former husband.

Mellencamp also demanded her estranged husband pay all legal fees and costs for the case while requesting spousal support and asked to block the court's ability to award support to Arroyave to be terminated.

Even though she cited irreconcilable differences in her reason for filing for divorce, the Bravo celebrity was spotted wearing her wedding ring a day after filing for divorce.

Arroyave and Mellencamp gave no warning signs in the days leading up to their shocking divorce as they appeared smitten with each other at the charity event.

The estranged couple showed up dressed to the nines as Arroyave shared various slides of them having a good time at the gala.

Mellencamp looks exquisite in a golden glistening floor-length number, flanking her estranged husband, who opted for a black suit, white shirt, and no tie combo for the night.

"I always say life and pain are inseparable. And to see @teddimellencamp embrace her pain and use it for the greater good again last night as she emceed the @curemelanoma gala, was a beautiful reminder of what she is capable of," he wrote in the caption showering praises on his now ex-wife.

The TV star commended her for being open about her skin cancer struggles, noting that "her story has already saved lives." He concluded his post by expressing his pride that Mellencamp will continue saving lives, adding, "Love you, Teds."

Arroyave's praises are valid as the Bravo star has shown commendable strength amid her battle with melanoma by being as open as possible with her fans and followers.

She shared a situation update in January on Instagram in a post showing off her scar from a surgical procedure. Mellencamp announced that she got her final report back from the oncologist, adding:

"Final report is all good. Some atypical areas, but no melanoma. We'll have to keep a close watch on you, but it's all good now. I'll want to see you in about three months. Sooner if you have any concerns."

Mellencamp extended gratitude to the healthcare staff who ensured her wellbeing during surgery and since her diagnosis as she encouraged everyone to go in for regular checkups.
