90 Day Fiancé seems to be an endless supply of drama, particularly regarding Ashley Martson and Jay Smith. Or, it seemed that way. Martson recently opened up in a now deleted Instagram post about how their episodes of 90 Day Fiancé were deceitfully edited and that they were manipulated by TLC.
"We have been asked to be very deceptive about many things during our run with the show. We have been asked (and agreed for some time) to fake our relationship by not posting anything that makes us appear that we are together. We will be working with the necessary parties to find a solution to the constant deception and lies we are being asked to participate in as it is not conducive to the very real consequences that potentially exist for us."
Martson continued, explaining that being forced to hide the fact that she and Smith were not actually together made her feel like a fraud.
"Personally, I thought this show was just for entertainment & that’s what we were told. Since the show has ended I never confirmed the status of our relationship due to the contract."
She had previously discussed this in InTouch Weekly.
"We were trying to hide our relationship, but you can’t hide your relationship when you’re on national TV. People were catching us out, taking pictures, saying we were frauding and all this stuff."
Martson also explained that the Tell-All special was edited in a manipulating manner as well.
"There was a lot of editing and cutting that was done, but just a lot of back and forth, he said she said kind of stuff between Jay and I."
She addressed the fact that they created a fake Instagram account, and while they did address it during the tell-all, it "didn't make the cut." However, TLC did try to make Martson look bad when Smith accused her of cheating (they were not actually together).
"I know it looks like he said I was doing something and I just bolted, but there was a lot of conversation about what he was saying I was doing. They kind of just do what they want with that footage."
This whole ordeal is so, so shady.
