Dita Von Teese, known as the Queen of Burlesque, is often credited for bringing burlesque back to mainstream pop culture. She recently began performing her new show at Voltaire in The Venetian Resort Las Vegas and due to its popularity, show dates have been extended through May 2025.
In addition to her wildly popular burlesque career, Von Teese has also branched out with her own distinctive brands, collaborated on several music projects, has written multiple books, and more.
The Blast recently had the opportunity to catch Von Teese's exciting, sparkle-filled show at The Venetian, and it didn't disappoint one little bit.
Dita Von Teese Is The Queen Of Burlesque
The model, style icon, and iconic burlesque performer is well known for her glamorous and vintage style.
Born Heather Sweet in Michigan in 1972, she adopted the name Dita Von Teese as she crafted her persona inspired by pin-up culture. She initially gained fame as a fetish model, but later dove into burlesque with elaborate performances that featured vintage inspired costumes, oversized props, and a level of artistry that only Von Teese can truly deliver flawlessly.
She is often credited with bringing burlesque back to mainstream pop culture. Her performances are iconic, entertaining, and memorable.
Dita Von Teese's Las Vegas Residency At The Venetian
"Dita Von Teese The Queen of Burlesque" began at Voltaire in The Venetian Resort Las Vegas in late September. The show was recently extended to offer dates well into 2025.
"Dita Von Teese dazzles audiences around the world and is bringing something iconic and special to Voltaire," Voltaire founder Michael Gruber said, according to Voltaire's website. "Upon entering Voltaire, guests are transported to another era through the venue's art deco design and cabaret setup, making it the perfect venue for Dita, her sparkling costumes, and effervescent charm."
This residency is Von Teese's second in Vegas, following the conclusion of her 2023 residency at the Horseshoe.
"I am delighted to bring a brand-new show to Voltaire at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas. This exquisite jewel box of a theater compliments the timeless allure of my show," Von Teese said. "I'm brimming with excitement at the thought of splashing around in my giant champagne coupe, the sparkling glass bubbles floating overhead in this sumptuous cabaret-like theater."
Experiencing The Show At Voltaire Is A Whole Vibe Not To Be Missed
The Blast had the opportunity to experience the show up close and personal on Saturday night and wasn't quite prepared for just how amazing the night would be.
From the moment you walk into Voltaire, you're transported back in time to a world of vintage glamour and sultry sophistication, where Von Teese reigns supreme with her spellbinding, old-Hollywood allure.
There isn't a bad seat in the house, and Von Teese certainly packed in a crowd! Everything is very sparkly, feminine, and iconic, to say the least. While I was expecting something over-the-top and amazing, this show far exceeded my expectations. It was fast moving, ever changing, and eye catching. Von Teese is simply iconic and seeing her in person and close up was certainly a memorable experience.
It's definitely a show that I recommend for anyone visiting Vegas who wants to feel that old Vegas charm and style. While photos and videos aren't allowed during the show, they do tell you to pull your cameras out during the last few minutes so you can capture a little something to share with friends and family. You can also meet Von Teese after the show for a charge.
Changing People's Minds About The Art Of Striptease
In October 2023, shortly after debuting her pervious show at the Horseshoe, Von Teese told Vogue that she wants viewers to leave her show with a sense of joy and fantasy.
"My goal has always been about changing people's minds, because there's such a negative [idea] about striptease," Von Teese said. "I'm not trying to sanitize it: I love striptease. I love the idea you can have a sexy, frivolous show and it can be inspiring to people - especially when you see different types of body types and skin types. It's celebrating glamour, sensuality, and eroticism and not apologizing for it."
And after attending her current residency at The Venetian, it appears that her goal hasn't changed at all.
Dita Von Teese Worked With Taylor Swift In 'Bejeweled' Video

Last year, Von Teese worked with pop culture icon Taylor Swift in her music video for her song, "Bejeweled." In the clip, Von Teese plays the Fairy Goddess to Swift's Cinderella and performs alongside her in giant matching martini glasses covered in Swarovski crystals. (Von Teese is known for her martini glass performance in her shows, and it's included in her current Vegas residency.)
“I had a wonderful time working with Taylor’s stylist Joseph Cassell on creating the costumes with Catherine D’Lish, and coaching Taylor on the act… and what a delight to perform alongside her for the video!” Von Teese said in a statement, according to Billboard.
“Taylor’s generosity radiates in all that she does. I’m deeply touched by her kindness in acknowledging not only me, but burlesque, an American art form to which I have dedicated my life. It was a true pleasure to share my martini glass act with her.”
