Olivia Jackson, who performed stunts for Milla Jovovich’s character during the filming of Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, is suing the film’s producers after she suffered horrific injuries.
In the lawsuit, Jackson says she was scheduled to film a fight scene but instead was asked at the last minute to shoot “a dangerous and technically complex motorcycle scene in adverse weather.”
She was told to speed towards the camera and the crane operator would lift the camera just before she sped by.
Jackson claims the operator didn’t lift the crane in time and she crashed into the camera at high speed. The result was several major injuries including “slicing through the bone of her forearm and tearing the flesh off her cheek, leaving her teeth exposed.”
She later had to be put into a medically induced coma and have her arm amputated.
Jackson claims the studio misled her into believing any injuries she suffered would be fully covered by their insurance, but she ended up only being paid $33,000 for her medical bills.
Another crew member, Ricardo Cornelius, was killed during the filming of The Final Chapter, and Jackson’s claim notes that 16 other extras were injured on set.
