Stevie Nicks is among the numerous celebrities in Kamala Harris' corner, but her interest in politics did not start until her 70s.
The singer-songwriter recently confessed she never voted in her prime, noting her disinterest in participating in elections as one of her biggest regrets. Now, she plans to make a change in the upcoming presidential battle.
Stevie Nicks recently endorsed Kamala Harris, a month after subtly echoing her support for the VP on social media. She and actress Aubrey Plaza joined Taylor Swift's "childless cat lady" trend, slamming Donald Trump's running mate, JD Vance.
Stevie Nicks Is Passionate About The Upcoming Election
Nicks reflected on her absence from voting booths in a new interview, noting she never filled a ballot until six years ago. "I never voted until I was 70, but I regret that," she confessed, adding:
"I've told everybody that onstage for the last two years. I regret that, and I don't have very many regrets."
Nicks recalled finding "so many reasons" not to vote, stating: "You can say, 'Oh, I didn't have time. I was this and that.' In the long run, you didn't have an hour?"
"You didn't have an hour of your time that you could have gone and voted," she admonished her past self. At 76, Nicks was more passionate than ever to vote for the right candidate and hopefully make necessary changes, per PEOPLE.
Nicks Believes Singers Should Use Music To Advocate For Change

The Fleetwood Mac member implied Harris was the right woman to lead the country, stressing: "We have to find a way to bring back Roe v. Wade." But endorsing the VP wasn't the only way Nicks hoped to bring about change.
She believed in singers using their platform to advocate for worthy causes and spread awareness. "In the end of the '50s and '60s and going into the 70s, everyone was writing protest songs," Nicks recalled.
"Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell, Stephen Stills — it was lots and lots and lots. I would say to all my musical poets that write songs to write some songs about what's happening, like I did," she added.
The Singer-songwriter Wrote A Song About Reproductive Rights

Nicks' comments about singers using their platform for change weren't farfetched. In September, she addressed the reproductive rights issue in "The Lighthouse." The song's lyrics partly read:
"They'll take your soul, they'll take your power / Unless you stand up and take it back / Try to see the future and get mad. It's slipping through your fingers, you don't have what you had / You don't have much time to get it back."
"Whoever wins [the election], the lighthouse needs to keep shining its light and also keep those ships from crashing into the rocks," Nicks said about the song, adding:
"That's my idea of the lighthouse being a protector, protecting all those boats and ships that are coming in."
Nicks Followed Taylor Swift's 'Childless Cat Lady' Trend

Nicks echoed her support for Harris in September following Swift's endorsement. The Blast reported the "Bad Blood" hitmaker shared a picture of herself posing with one of her cats and signed off as a "childless cat lady."
Her words mocked Trump's running mate Vance, who faced backlash months earlier for a resurfaced interview. The VP hopeful slammed female democrats like Harris as "a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives."
Swift's trend kicked off with actress Aubrey Plaza mirroring her post with a throwback picture of herself and the late grumpy cat. While Nicks did not have a cat, she hopped in on the fun with a cute photo of her dog and signed it "Childless Dog Lady."
Stevie Nicks Implores Fans To Vote For The Right Candidate

Although Nicks did not mention Harris's name, she subtly endorsed the presidential candidate in the post's caption. She implored fans to make the right decision ahead of the November elections, writing:
"As my friend @taylorswift so eloquently stated, now is the time to research and choose the candidate that speaks to you and your beliefs."
"Only 54 days left until the election. Make sure you are registered to vote! Your vote in this election may be one of the most important things you ever do," Nicks stressed.
With the elections just days away, will Stevie Nicks' efforts to place Kamala Harris in the White House bear fruit?
