Former NFL star Danny Amendola took his "Dancing With the Stars" journey to a new level last week with a "Deadpool"-inspired jazz routine, and his efforts caught the eye of none other than Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds.

Teaming up with professional partner Witney Carson, Amendola donned the iconic red suit while Carson channeled Wolverine, creating a memorable performance that paid homage to the beloved Marvel anti-heroes. In a pre-performance interview, Amendola and Carson shared their hope that both Reynolds and Hugh Jackman might take notice of the dance.

Their wish was soon granted as this week, following their Halloween-themed routine, Danny Amendola and Witney Carson revealed to the audience that Ryan Reynolds had, in fact, sent them a personal video message shortly after their "Deadpool"-inspired performance.

Danny Amendola Goes Full Deadpool For 'DWTS' Disney Night Performance

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman delighted fans by reprising their iconic roles as Deadpool and Wolverine in their latest film, which hit theaters in July.

On "Dancing With the Stars" Disney Night, Danny Amendola and partner Witney Carson paid homage to the characters, with Amendola as Deadpool and Carson as Wolverine. Following their performance, the two were asked how they would feel if one of the actors saw their dance and responded.

“I would probably freak out [if we heard from them],” Amendola told Us Weeklyon Tuesday, October 22, after he and Carson performed to “Bye Bye Bye” from the superhero film dressed as Reynolds and Jackman’s characters.

Carson echoed the sentiment, agreeing, “I’d freak out.”

And that's exactly what happened when Amendola received the video.

When speaking to "Good Morning America," Danny Amendola shared that he and Ryan Reynolds had “exchanged some encouraging words,” which led Witney Carson to exclaim, “He sent us a video!” Amendola added, “He made our year,” describing the thrill of seeing Reynolds’ video pop up on his phone, where he admitted he “freaked out.”

Carson chimed in, saying she “came running” the moment she found out.

The duo had a message of gratitude for Reynolds, thanking him for the support. “That was really, really nice of you to give us appreciation,” Carson said, visibly moved by the actor’s acknowledgment.

Amendola, who’s been vocal about his admiration for Reynolds, recently told Us Weekly, “Ryan is one of my favorite actors. Obviously, Hugh, too. We wanted to pay homage to them. [Deadpool & Wolverine] was very action-packed, very comedic, and we wanted to incorporate some of that into our dance.”

Witney Carson Opens Up About Their 'Deadpool' Dance

The judges were impressed with their high-energy performance, awarding them two eights and a nine, showing appreciation for the duo’s spirited tribute to the beloved Marvel heroes.

“We’ve got to really work for it and really deserve it, so I’m OK with no 10,” she said. “I was happy with the scores, and I was happy with the way we performed. I think going forward, we want to just really make sure that Danny comes across as a really good dancer and a good contender. So, that’s what we’re going to try and work on this week.”

While they may not have received a ten on Disney Night, Danny Amendola did receive his first ten on Halloween Night!

As he faced his fear of snakes, the two-time Super Bowl champion and former Patriots wide receiver danced the Argentine tango in the show’s sixth round to “Poison” by RAVN.

Amendola, who admitted his worst Halloween fear is being bitten by a snake, impressed the judges with his performance, marking a high point in his journey on the show.

"When I was a kid, I remember my worst nightmare (was) running through a grassy field full of snakes everywhere," Amendola said. "They're creepy. They're slimy. I don't like their fangs. One bite, you're done."

Danny Amendola scored a 28/30, with Carrie Ann Inaba giving Amendola his first ten out of ten score for the season.
