'Ma' Actress Octavia Spencer Joins Forces With Kamala Harris In New Video

"Don’t make me vote alone," Spencer affirmed, expressing her hope that people across the country will recognize the importance of their role in shaping upcoming decisions. Harris chimed in, urging Americans to go to Iwillvote.com to “make sure you are registered to vote” and “to vote.”

Many celebrities acknowledged the post, including Ariana Grande, who double-tapped on the video, and Viola Davis, who commented, “Voted! I love you both!”

Spencer’s latest political video comes months after she showed her support for the Biden-Harris ticket just a day after President Joe Biden faced scrutiny following a turbulent debate performance (before he dropped out of the race.)

In a post on her Instagram earlier this year, Spencer shared a photo of herself alongside Vice President Kamala Harris, reflecting on her attendance at a fundraiser held in their support on June 28. “We all know that when you stumble, it’s about how you get back up that’s most important,” Spencer wrote, referencing the resilience she admires in the administration.

The “Hidden Figures” star emphasized her connection to the campaign’s values, particularly women’s reproductive rights, which she noted as central to her support for Harris. “I had a great time with the @vp @kamalaharris last night as she continues to fight for women’s reproductive rights,” she wrote, adding hashtags like #FeelingBlue and #IWillVote.

Spencer also appeared alongside Kamala Harris at a rally in July, where she and Harris highlighted the Biden administration’s initiatives to revitalize a pandemic-battered economy, tackle infrastructure challenges, and create jobs.

“Let us not forget that Trump took aim at our most personal freedoms, when he appointed the justices who overturned Roe v Wade,” Spencer reportedly said, per Variety. “He demands credit, so let’s give it to him. He gets the credit for the abortion bans and restrictions in 14 states that are putting women’s lives at risk. Some so draconian, they make no exceptions for health, rape, or incest. Let’s give him the credit.”

The fundraiser, aimed at emphasizing economic equity, also underscored the administration’s commitment to increasing opportunities for Black-owned businesses and enhancing Black wealth.

At a July 12 campaign rally in Detroit, Michigan, actress Octavia Spencer reaffirmed her steadfast support for President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, calling the current president “a fighter.”

The event, held at Renaissance High School—a familiar campaign stop for Biden from the 2020 presidential primary—saw Spencer passionately endorsing the Biden-Harris administration’s leadership.

“Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have delivered,” Spencer said at the time. “They’ve delivered. They’ve rebuilt a battered economy and brought manufacturing back to our shores. And listen up, ladies: they’re fighting each and every day for our fundamental right to make our own decisions about our own bodies.”

Earlier this year, Spencer also told America that there is one job to do: “Reject Donald Trump once and for all.”

“Americans have a choice to make,” Spencer said at the July 12 campaign rally in Detroit, Michigan. “Who do we trust to fight for us? Do we trust a leader who has kept his promises and fought every day to make life better for all of us? Or do we trust a convicted felon? Joe Biden works for you, the other guy works for himself.”

Now that Biden has dropped out of the race, Spencer is endorsing the Harris-Walz campaign.
