Hollywood veteran Michael Madsen has changed his tune a month after filing to end his marriage to DeAnna Madsen.
The "Kill Bill" actor filed for divorce and a domestic violence restraining order in September. However, he recently retracted his request for protection from his estranged wife but still plans to separate.
Michael and DeAnna Madsen tied the knot on April 15, 1996, and were legally married for 28 years. But the TV personality's divorce filing claims they have been separated since 2022 following the death of their son, Hudson.
Michael Madsen Dismisses Protection Plea Following Estranged Wife's Divorce Response
According to new court documents, Michael recently dropped his petition for a domestic violence restraining order. He did not dismiss his intention to divorce DeAnna, a sentiment she echoed in her response to his separation filing.
The actor's estranged wife agreed that "irreconcilable differences" had led to their split but did not support Michael's thoughts about their separation date. Instead, she noted it was "to be determined," unlike her estranged husband's 2022 claim.
DeAnne's differences with Michael's filing continued with her request for spousal support, per In Touch. The entertainer had asked the court to terminate her rights, but with her filing, the estranged pair might butt heads over alimony.
Michael Accused DeAnna Madsen Of Abuse
When Michael filed for divorce in September, The Blast reported that he dropped scathing allegations against DeAnna. He claimed the pair had been separated since January 2022 following the death of their son, Hudson.
The actor blamed DeAnna for their son's suicide, alleging "her neglect, drinking, and alcoholism" had pushed Hudson over the edge. He also accused her of plaguing his life with untold problems, claiming he was a victim of "an abusive, codependent and toxic relationship."
Michael argued that his struggles with DeAnna involved his wrongful arrest for domestic violence in August. He was accused of pushing his estranged wife and locking her out of their Los Angeles home.
The Hollywood Veteran Was Released On A $20,000 Bond
Although it was unclear what sparked the August rift between Michael and DeAnna, authorities arrested the actor after talking to both parties. He was taken into custody for a domestic battery misdemeanor under Penal Code 243(e)(1), meaning force or violence was used against a cohabitant.
DeAnna reportedly refused to receive medical attention, while Michael regained his freedom after posting a $20,000 bond. His team addressed the situation in a statement, noting the incident "was a disagreement between Michael and his wife."
The domestic violence case was later dismissed because of "insufficient evidence." Michael's rep celebrated the news in a statement, saying:
"We are thrilled that Michael Madsen is able to put this behind him and look forward to our continued collaboration with more great things coming from this veteran and respected actor."
The Estranged Couple Shared Different Stories About The Incident
Following the domestic violence drama, DeAnna broke her silence in a statement. She implied the incident was Michael's fault, blaming it on his personal problems. In her words:
"Michael is struggling with his own personal issues. Myself and our children have been supporting him to the best of our ability. We would request privacy at this time."
However, Michael's attorney, Perry Wander, shared a different story. He accused DeAnna of breaking into the actor's home, forcing him to confront her and ask her to leave. The legal rep claimed the incident "has been an ongoing problem."
"Michael has shown immense compassion and restraint during this period towards his estranged wife. He's definitely not guilty of domestic violence," the attorney argued.
Michael Madsen Broke His Silence About His Son's Suicide
Michael and DeAnna welcomed three children, the late Hudson, Luke, and Calvin. Their deceased child took his life on the island of Oahu in 2022, dying from a gunshot wound at 26.
"I am in shock as my son, whom I just spoke with a few days ago, said he was happy — my last text from him was 'I love you, dad,'" Michael said about Hudson's death.
"I didn't see any signs of depression. It's so tragic and sad. I'm just trying to make sense of everything and understand what happened," the Hollywood veteran continued, noting Hudson had been excited about his future.
Given Michael Madsen's decision to retract his restraining order filing, will he and DeAnna be able to obtain an amicable split or a possible reconciliation?
