Actress Angelina Jolie has made a rare comment about her family to the public.
The brood she shares with Brad Pitt are all grown up and coming into their own.
The "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" actress opened up about her adult children in a recent interview, revealing a crucial aspect of their personalities.
Angelina Jolie Shares Some Permanent Ink With Her Children
Jolie has navigated her motherhood largely in the spotlight, with her marriage to her famous ex-husband being pretty inescapable. Finding private moments to share only between herself and her children would seemingly be few and far between, but the "Girl, Interrupted" alumna has found both a personal and private way to share something only with her kids.
The actress and Atelier Jolie founder recently revealed she shares matching tattoos with some of her children. Jolie opened up to CR Fashion Book and revealed the stories behind the meaningful ink.
"I got 'Stay Gold' with my daughter Viv during our time with 'The Outsiders," Jolie responded when interviewer Carine Roitfeld inquired about the actress' latest tattoos. "It means so much to us separately and together," she added.
The "Tomb Raider" alumna also noted she shared a bird tattoo with some of her children, although she did not share which ones.
"There is also a Bird that I share with some of my children that is personal to us," Jolie went on to tell the outlet.
Fame Is Not The End Game For The Jolie Clan
The adult Jolie children have been famous since birth. Now that Maddox, 23, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16, are largely old enough to have agency over themselves and the direction of their lives, they are opting to live life on the quiet side.
While speaking with E!, the "Maria" actress described her six children, revealing the occupation she is pretty confident they won't end up pursuing.
"No, I think they're especially shy, very private people," Jolie said. "They want to be private," per PEOPLE.
Angelina Jolie Is Proud Of Her 'Resilient' Children
It is surely fair to say that privacy is a right the Jolie family has earned in the last few years. Following their mother's divorce from their father and the ensuing "lengthy" legal battle, the kids have distanced themselves from Pitt.
18-year-old Shiloh has been granted permission to legally drop "Pitt" as her surname, and both Vivienne and Zahara have used "Jolie" as their surnames for personal events and projects, as The Blast previously reported.
Jolie has worked hard to create a healthy environment that is mutually beneficial for herself and her children, as reported by PEOPLE. A source told the magazine, "In the past few years, she's been able to create a life for herself and the kids that make them all happy. It was a struggle for a while, but Angie is proud about how resilient and strong the kids are," they shared.
The insider also described Jolie's children as being the actress' "biggest supporters."
A Source Described Brad Pitt's Relationship With The Kids As 'Totally Fractured'
Pitt, 60, has largely been estranged from his children's lives, and the distance has reportedly been "heartbreaking" for him, according to sources close to the "Once Upon A Time In Hollywood" actor.
According to In Touch Weekly, Pitt has had fatherhood on the brain. The actor is now dating jewelry designer Ines de Ramon and could be considering fatherhood once again.
The source explained, "There's no denying that his relationship with his kids is totally fractured, and his heart is broken over it. He's not expecting a new baby to fix everything, but it will certainly bring him new joy and he desperately needs that right now."
Angelina Jolie Has Her Younger Kids 'Most Of The Time'
Pitt and Jolie's older children reportedly are opting to keep their relationship with their father to a minimum. PEOPLE Magazine described their relationship with Pitt as being "virtually no contact."
The younger children, (twins Vivienne and Knox), see the "Fight Club" actor occasionally, as his part of the custody agreement reflects reported "visitation." Jolie has been said to have the twins "most of the time."
Although Pitt's filming commitments have allegedly caused him to have "limited" contact in "recent months."
All six of their children recently supported their mother by accompanying her to the "Maria" premiere. The film will be released on November 27th.
