Johnny Depp has declared that he harbors no "ill feelings toward anyone," two years after his highly contentious legal battle with his ex-wife Amber Heard.
The actor noted that the things he has had to endure taught him "a lot" as he continues to make a career comeback across Europe.
A source recently disclosed that Johnny Depp is focusing more on himself and his health these days and even plans to undergo a complete body makeover after fixing his teeth.
Johnny Depp Has No 'Ill Feelings Towards Anyone'
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Depp opened up about his emotional state following a tumultuous period in his personal and professional life.
Having touched down in Italy this past weekend for the screening of his new directorial project, "Modi: Three Days on the Wing of Madness," at the Rome Film Festival, the actor sat down with the news outlet where he shared a message of healing about not wanting the "baggage" of openly resenting anyone.
Depp was asked to weigh in on his previous statement about how his life "turned into a soap opera" and if he still felt that way.
He replied, "Honestly, I can sit here this very second and think about all the hit pieces and how everybody was against me, and yeah, yeah, yeah, he is off the map … endless stuff."
"I can remember it all. Went through it all. Some of it was not the most beautiful time, some of it was hilarious. Some of it was mad. The thing is, it simply just was, and it simply just is. So, for me, it happened. I learned, man," Depp continued.
"Everything that we experience, whether you're given a snow cone or walking your dog, you learn something somewhere along the way," he added. "So I don't have any ill feelings toward anyone. I don't have this great reserve of hatred, because hatred requires caring. Why carry that baggage?"
The Actor Had A Major Fallout With Amber Heard
Depp's stance comes two years after his highly contentious legal battle with his ex-wife Amber Heard in a civil defamation suit that lasted for six weeks. The pair were only married for 15 months before their $7 million divorce in 2017 after a barrage of abuse allegations from both parties.
According to the Daily Mail, an audio recording had Heard admitting, "You didn't get punched; you got hit. I'm sorry I hit you like this, but I did not punch you."
She continued, "I did not f-cking deck you. I f-cking was hitting you. I don't know what the motion of my actual hand was. But you're fine. I did not hurt you. I did not punch you. I was hitting you. I'm not sitting here b--ching about it, am I? You are. That's the difference between me and you. You're a f-cking baby. You are such a baby. Grow the f-ck up, Johnny."
Over 500 million people reportedly live-streamed the proceedings as Heard was found liable in all three matters of defamation raised. In contrast, Depp was only found liable in one of three matters of defamation brought to the court.
The "In the Fire" actress was made to pay Depp $1 million in penalties, which he pledged to donate to charities.
Johnny Depp Wouldn't Let His Challenges Affect His Art
In his interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the "Edward Scissorhands" actor spoke about how he doesn't let the challenges he has faced in his personal life and career affect his work on screen.
The 61-year-old actor was asked if he has "an instinct or an intuition or some method that allows you to focus on the authenticity of your roles?" to which he replied, "Oh yes, of course, it is my responsibility."
"But it is also helpful in certain instances, especially when things are crumbling all around," he continued. "It's weird to be able to escape, not into a character, but it is good to be able to inhabit a character, and as everything is in your toolbox — some of that stuff can be used as available stimulus. Which is great."
"So yeah," he added. "Everything has been … it has really, it just is. And on some level, it is gonna be around, that kind of thing. It's like OJ or something. But hey, it just happened. That's all."
The Hollywood Star Is Focusing On His Health
Meanwhile, a source close to the actor recently told People that Depp is moving on with his life without any hate and is prioritizing his health more these days.
"He is prioritizing his health and wellbeing much more these days," the source said of the "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" actor. "People were loving his look for the Jeanne du Barry U.K. premiere. He got a new haircut, he looked polished and clean-cut. He's lost weight. He's feeling and looking healthier."
"He's taking advantage of being in this better headspace," the insider added. "There's a lot of good energy, and he surrounds himself with a good group of people."
Johnny Depp Is 'Focused On Moving Forward'
The source added that there are no more loose ends in Depp's litigation with Heard and that he's seemingly settled for "more of a quiet life" in London, where he sings and paints when he's not making films.
"He's focused on moving forward," the source shared. "He's keeping busy. There's a lot of good distractions, so there's not that much time to be reminiscing on that darker period."
"There's been a release of the old and embarking on this new chapter. He's feeling better about where he is in life," the insider explained. "There's no animosity toward anybody."
Since his split from Heard, the actor has been romantically linked to Russian model Yulia Vlasova, whom he has been spotted with on several occasions.
