James has a lot to celebrate recently, as it was just unveiled that the NBA star will be receiving his own building at the Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon.
The LeBron James Building is scheduled to open in 2020 and will be home to the Advanced Innovation team and house house a state-of-the-art Sport Research Lab.
The building will also house an NBA-size basketball court, 200-meter endurance track, 100-meter sprint track, artificial turf training pitch and an incline ramp outside the building that offers athletes an extra opportunity to push their bodies during training.
LeBron said the entire thing is "surreal," and when he got the car he was, "literally shedding tears."
He added, "The home of the Advance Innovation team and new state of the art Nike Sports Research Lab! Everything will get made and lab tested in my building! Like WHAT?!?!?"
Along with his legacy in basketball, LeBron is also continuing to cement his legacy in academics, as his I Promise School in Akron, OH recently provided free eye exams, lenses and frames for all the students.
“Watching our students put on a pair of glasses that allowed them to see clearly for the very first time was life changing,” said Michele Campbell, Executive Director of The LeBron James Family Foundation.
The school recently partnered with the Northeast Ohio Eye Surgeons, and she added that, "[Students] are literally seeing the world through a whole new perspective, with vision they didn’t even know they were missing. Being able to see is critical to learning, and now they have that resource available right on site thanks to this game-changing partnership."
How can a student learn if they can’t see? Northeast Ohio Eye Surgeons provided our students and their families free eye exams, lenses and frames… and the opportunity to see themselves as the stars we see them as! 🤩 pic.twitter.com/l5upvdYC01
