Jaime King's ex-husband, Kyle Newman's gloves are off regarding her proximity to him and their kids.
Five months after the former couple finalized their contentious divorce, the actress' estranged husband is requesting a restraining order to safeguard himself and their children.
Jaime King filed for what became a bitter divorce from Kyle Newman in 2020 after 13 years of marriage.
Jaime King's Estranged Husband Claims The Kids Are In Danger Without Legal Protection
The 48-year-old petitioned a Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday to grant a restraining order against his ex-wife to stop her from coming near him and the children.
Newman also applied for sole custody of their two sons, James Knight and Leo Thames, adding that she stays away from his home, workplace, and the kid's school. Newman requested the court order Jamie to provide drug and alcohol test results, stating that:
"The children are currently in danger when in their mother's care. Jaime King is suffering from drug and alcohol addiction and is emotionally abusing and neglecting our children, placing them in danger and exposing them to many disturbing people and situations, including sexual content."
In Touch reported the father-of-two added that the children are begging him to help rescue them from the chaos in their mother's home.
Kyle Newman Also Sought Monitored Visitation For King With The Kids
Newman demanded that King be granted limitated visitation with the kids and with the presence of a professional to monitor their interaction.
He revealed that King has a history of severe drug and alcohol abuse and has had a serious relapse, endangering the safety and well-being of the children in her care.
The actor recalled visiting King's house last week at 7:30 a.m. after getting a call from their kids. On getting there, he met her on the floor in an incoherent state.
Newman detailed that her unconscious state was due to her partying all night. Upon his discovery, he removed the children from her house and did not return them.
Newman Claimed Concerned Parties Filed Two Reports On Behalf Of His Children
The director explained in the filing that two separate Department of Children and Family Services reports were made by his kids' therapist and school counselor last week. These reports have since prompted an active police investigation into the kids' welfare, adding:
"Our children are in grave danger if Jaime is to resume custody, as she continues to drive them while wholly under the influence."
He noted that she would have strange men show up at the house and send the children to sleep in the boy's rooms. Newman explained that the children have been so traumatized by King's lifestyle that they asked to speak to the judge so that they don't have to go back to her house.
The actor declared that Jaime would continue to game the system without strong orders from the court. In his words:
"She has been sanctioned twice by two different judges in our family law matter and refuses to follow court orders, like the judgment that requires her to not be intoxicated when the children are in her custody."
The Estranged Couple Finalized Their Divorce In May
The Blast reported back in May that Judge Joshua D. Wayser granted the official dissolution of their marriage. Wayser indicated the effective termination date of their marital status as "May 14, 2024."
While Newman and his lawyers showed up in court, King remained noticeably absent without a phone call or check-in made on her behalf. The termination documents noted that she did not make any move or take any actions to oppose Newman's motion for entry of judgment on April 18, 2024.
The actress was also accused of failing to file her motion to set aside the settlement agreement. She filed multiple exparte applications later and claimed she signed the marital settlement under duress.
Jaime King Was Ordered To Pay Child Support To Kyle Newman
The legal documents stated that the duo would have joint custody of their two children, but the model would pay her ex-husband $429 in child support. King was also required to roll out $1000 in spousal support until Newman's death or remarriage.
The estranged couple were equally banned from making "derogatory nor disparaging remarks about the other to or in the presence of, or within the hearing of, any minor child."
As for their properties, the mother of two would retain ownership of the businesses, assets, and bank accounts in her name. Meanwhile, Newman got to keep the $300,000 made from selling their marital mansion.
