Kim Kardashian is showing her support for Olivia Munn after the actress courageously revealed her double mastectomy scars in a powerful social media post.
Munn, who was diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer in April 2023, learned she had luminal B, an aggressive and fast-progressing form of the disease. Since her diagnosis, she has undergone five surgeries, including a double mastectomy, a lymph node dissection, and a hysterectomy.
Following her post, SKIMS founder Kim Kardashian is now praising Olivia Munn’s bravery, commending her for sharing such a personal and vulnerable moment with the world.
Olivia Munn Shares Photos Of Double Mastectomy Scars
Munn is featured in a powerful new SKIMS campaign launched in partnership with the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The campaign was unveiled on Instagram on Wednesday, October 23.
In the campaign video, Munn proudly displays her double mastectomy scars as she candidly discusses her journey after being diagnosed with a rare form of breast cancer at the age of 41 in April 2023.
"I want other women to love their scars because they’re proof that we fought back with everything we have to be here," Munn told People Magazine about the campaign. "Beauty exists in every experience."
Following the viral Instagram post, Kardashian took to her Instagram Stories to highlight Munn’s new campaign for the shapewear brand.
Kim Kardashian Supports Olivia Munn For Her Bravery
"Hell yeah," Kardashian wrote on her Instagram Stories, sharing a photo of Munn posing topless from the side, revealing a scar along her breast. The reality star also tagged both Munn and SKIMS, Kardashian's shapewear brand, in the post.
"Olivia’s bravery in sharing her story is deeply moving, and we’re honored to amplify her voice this Breast Cancer Awareness Month," the SKIMS co-founder and chief creative officer said, per ABC. "Partnering with her and Susan G. Komen allows SKIMS to further our commitment to inclusivity and supporting everybody."
From October 23 to October 31, SKIMS will donate 10% of the retail sales price of each bra sold in SKIMS stores and on Skims.com in the United States (excluding bralettes) to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
“Someone said this phrase to me and it meant a lot, and it really touched me,” Munn said of being diagnosed with breast cancer. “When it comes to breast cancer they say, ‘Welcome to the worst club with the best members.’”
Olivia Munn Says Her Scars Are A Representation Of Her Strength
After surviving cancer, Munn shared that she sees her scars as a sign of her strength.
“When I look at the scars or how my breasts look different or how clothes fit on me differently, I feel a lot of gratitude,” she said, promoting the SKIMS campaign. “The way my body looks is just a representation of how hard I fought.”
The campaign, revealed on Wednesday, October 23, marks the first time Munn has publicly shown her surgical scars since her double mastectomy. In the photos, Munn models SKIMS' signature bras and shapewear, including the Ultimate Nipple Bra in Clay, the Ultimate Teardrop Push-Up Bra in Sienna, the Multi-way Bra in Onyx, and the Back Smoothing Brief Bodysuit in Onyx.
Olivia Munn Initially Did Not Plan To Show Her Scars
During a live interview with Savannah Guthrie on the Today show from Los Angeles, Munn revealed that she initially hadn’t planned to show her scars.
"When SKIMS approached me to do this campaign, it was just to do their shapewear and their new leggings, and it wasn't about my scar at all," she said on the "Today" show.
"We were in the middle of the shoot and we were changing an outfit that could see more of my scars, and the makeup artist was touching up my scars and we got to my double mastectomy scars and they were just really hard to cover up, and then I was looking in the mirror and I just thought, 'I'm done being insecure about my scars.'"
Olivia Munn Shows Off Scars During Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Launched during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Munn's collaboration with SKIMS emphasizes the importance of early detection and removing barriers to care, particularly for younger women battling the disease.
The solutions-wear brand has also pledged to donate 10% of retail sales from bras sold between now and October 31 to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
