Todd Chrisley and his son Kyle just revealed the true reason the younger Chrisley was hospitalized last week, he attempted to take his own life.
On Thursday’s the family dropped the latest version the 'Chrisley Confessions' podcast, Todd and his son opened up about Kyle’s hospitalization and admitted they had misled the public about what really landed him in the hospital, a suicide attempt.
“I take medication and I had a bad side effect to it and I tried to take my own life,” Kyle, said in the episode. “With the meds, I got all kinds of crazy thinking going on.”
Todd, the patriarch of the family, then chimed in about said supportively, “Well, I think some of the medications they put you on — that you had not been on — one of the side effects is suicidal tendencies and we’re now off of that."
Kyle confirmed, “Yes, we’re off of that.”
As for what medication or how much of it he took, the two men were not specific. Kyle did mention however, he’s getting “one shot a month,” and he feels“a lot better” since the hospitalization.
The father, son duo did not get specific about how close of a call this was, and didn't identify the specific drugs involved.
As we reported, Todd posted a photo to Instagram of the whole family around Kyle's hospital bed “NOT TODAY SATAN, NOT TODAY… God shows up and shows out, now won’t he do it? Kyle is great and we are back to the grind,” Todd captioned it.
But, the issue is, as the time a spokesperson for the family told The Blast “Kyle is fine. He had an adverse reaction to his medication, but as you can see from the photo his father posted on Instagram, he is doing great.”
Its unclear why the family, or the network, would knowingly put out false information to the public.
Kyle’s hospitalization came just weeks after Todd and his wife Julie were indicted for 11 felonies related to tax fraud and tax evasion.
Kyle has previously been estranged from his family after battling drug addiction and publicly bad mouthing his father.
He also made claims earlier about issues with the Chrisley's taxes. “I’ve seen all the stories about my dad’s indictment all over the internet,” Kyle said in a Facebook post. “I know the interview I did bashing my dad OVER A YEAR AGO is being shared on social media. Honestly, I’m tired of it. You guys don’t have the facts and I need to set the record straight once and for all.” Kyle protested.
In regards to the misinformation that was initially distributed, a rep for the Chrisley family tells The Blast,
"The statement we sent out was accurate. As Kyle made clear in this week’s “Chrisley Confessions” podcast, his suicide attempt was the result of an adverse reaction to his medication."
