Jessica Simpson's Decade-Long Marriage Reportedly Heading For Divorce

Jessica Simpson is no stranger to divorce and might be heading down that route a second time with her beau, Eric Johnson.

If sources are to be believed, the "I Wanna Love You Forever" singer is experiencing trouble in her 10-year marriage. The cracks in her union with Johnson allegedly appeared over a year ago and have grown even stronger.

As things reportedly stand between Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson, it was only a matter of time before someone filed for divorce. The news might not surprise some fans as the singer stopped wearing her wedding ring in her Instagram updates.

According to insiders’ narrative, the bond that once held Simpson and Johnson together has loosened with time. “It’s pretty much over. It’s only a matter of time before she files for divorce,” a source alleged about the singer's stance on her decade-long marriage.

As for Johnson's feelings, an informant claimed he was done with his wife's behavior. “Eric has had it with her crazy mood swings, and Jessica feels like their marriage has lost its romance,” they noted.

“Everyone’s wondering how long they can go on like this,” the insider continued, claiming that Johnson had distanced himself from Simpson “for more than a year.” The source, per In Touch, added:

"Eric has been doing his own thing for longer than anyone seems to know. He’s been very vocal about how difficult it is to live with someone so obsessed with surgery and so detached from reality most of the time."

The claims about Simpson and Johnson’s broken marriage were fueled by the singer's decision to stop wearing her wedding ring on social media. The last time she reportedly donned the diamond gem was in an Instagram post on January 11.

Simpson rocked her wedding ring in a promotional video for Chicken of the Sea tuna and has not donned the gem in her posts since then. The ringless theme continued in February when she seemingly marked Valentine's Day with a solo post.

On February 15, the media personality shared pictures of herself in a strapless pink mini dress and full glam makeup. She captioned the post with a lipstick kiss emoji, with a source claiming her actions stemmed from her issues with Johnson.

"When Jessica and Eric are fighting, the ring comes off. It makes her feel like a fraud wearing her ring if they’re not getting along," the informant alleged. Johnson last appeared on his wife's Instagram page in April during their family's Easter celebrations.

The divorce speculations skyrocketed on September 15 when Simpson did not acknowledge her husband's birthday. Instead, she reposted a video shared by actor Tyrese Gibson on her Instagram Stories.

The clip featured a preacher’s comments about forgiveness and what it means to forgive the person who wronged you. The speech began: “Forgiveness doesn’t change the person who hurt you. Are you listening to me?”

“Forgiveness doesn’t change that person. Forgiveness changes you. Guess what forgiveness does not do? Forgiveness does not mean you forget,” the preacher continued, adding:

“One of the most crazy theories is that you forgive and forget. You don’t forget, but you do have the opportunity to forgive every time you remember."

The singer and the former NFL player first met in 2010 while Johnson was in the middle of divorcing his ex, Keri. Simpson shared more about the start of their relationship in her 2020 memoir "Open Book."

She revealed the pair met at a party in her home after a mutual friend invited Johnson. "We connected on all levels. We both were ready for the real deal," Simpson noted.

They officially debuted their love in July 2010 by sharing a passionate kiss in Capri, Italy. Their relationship moved to the next level in November when Johnson popped the big question, but they did not tie the knot immediately, per PEOPLE.

Nearly a year after Johnson proposed, Simpson announced they were expecting their first child in October 2011. They welcomed their daughter, Maxwell Drew, on May 1, 2012. Months later, the couple revealed they had conceived their second child in December.

Their son Ace Knute was born on June 30, 2013, with his middle name reportedly honoring Johnson's Swedish grandfather. The couple finally walked down the aisle in July 2014 and welcomed their third child, daughter Birdie Mae, five years later in March.
