Kristin Cavallari's Ex Jay Cutler Reportedly Attempted A Pay Off And Fleeing Before DUI Arrest

Kristin Cavallari's ex-husband, Jay Cutler, allegedly tried buying his way out of his DUI case!

The former NFL star reportedly tried to flee the scene of the accident after his attempt to bribe the victim of his careless driving was met with resistance.

Jay Cutler was arrested on Thursday evening on charges of DUI and illegally carrying a weapon while being heavily intoxicated.

The 41-year-old reportedly rear-ended another vehicle in downtown Franklin and sought to settle him with a bribe before police officers got involved in the case.

On getting to the scene, officers noticed his bloodshot eyes and offensive alcohol smell, leading them to carry out a deeper search in his car, where they discovered a loaded handgun and a rifle.

Per PEOPLE, the father of three was then charged with a DUI, illegal possession of a weapon while intoxicated, implied consent, and failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision.

According to the arresting officer in the affidavit, "Cutler was staggering, swaying, and heavy-footed while walking" at the accident spot.

He continued that his speech was slurry as he "spoke thick-tongued and mumbled." He added that Cutler's eyes "were bloodshot, glassy, red/pink, watery and dilated."

He also noted that the E! star "had an overwhelming odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his person and initially denied drinking any alcohol before the collision occurred."

The officer noted that he then revealed his identity as an Advanced Roadside Impairment Enforcement Officer to the former NFL pro and disclosed that he knew Cutler was concealing the truth in his answer.

The star was forced to admit that he took little quantity of alcohol following the officer's revelation of his identity.

He proceeded to conduct a field sobriety test on the former athlete, but he refused. The officer was later issued a blood search warrant upon his arrival in police custody.

Cutler's blood was collected for alcohol and substance tests at the Williamson Medical Center, where it was further confirmed that he was indeed under the influence.

Although Cutler denied being in a crash, the arresting officer's affidavit claimed that there was a small dent on the rear of the other vehicle. Cutler's truck "has a winch in the front," which didn't allow police to see any potential damage from the alleged crash.

Following his arrest, The Blast shared that he was released from police custody after posting a $5,000 bond.

The former athlete appeared unrecognizable in his mugshot after the arrest, further validating the arresting officer's account of events, particularly his physical appearance.

Cutler, who wore a white shirt for the quick picture at the Williamson County Jail, looked exhausted with unkempt hair and overgrown facial hair in the viral photograph.

Cutler's arrest came months after he sold the Tennessee home he and Kristin Cavallari shared for $7.9 million during their now-dissolved marriage.

The star, who finalized her divorce from the fashion designer in 2022, reportedly refused to react to his former wife's comments about their time together as a couple in an interview.

Cavallari, who went on an interview spree after the ink dried on their divorce agreement, stated that she was very unhappy in her toxic marriage to the former NFL player and decided to trust her gut on ending things for good.

Cutler explained in a later interview that he had no problem with the "Very Cavallari" star speaking on the state of their marriage. He added that he decided to stay quiet for the sake of their children.

"I also don't understand, It's two and a half years. Why are we having these conversations?" the athlete wondered.
