The lovebirds traveled together earlier this month to attend Payne's former boy band mate Niall Horan's concert and were supposed to stay for only five days but ended up spending two weeks in the country.

Cassidy reportedly got homesick and left on October 14, two days before Payne died.

"I was so ready to leave," Cassidy shared in a TikTok video. "Honestly, love South America but I hate staying in one place for too long. And we were supposed to be there for, like, five days, turned into two weeks."

The model noted that she was so bent on going home, especially as she developed a "weird rash" before her flight due to her "anxiety."

"I was so happy to be home," she added on the clip. "It was so relieving."

Reports suggest that Payne was under the influence of drugs as he was acting erratically in the hotel and destroying things before he was escorted back to his room.

The hotel receptionist, who identified himself as Esteban in a call with 911 emergency service, said Payne was "off his head in drugs," asking for an ambulance to be urgently dispatched to the location.

According to the Daily Mail, the hotel staff made two calls to 911 emergency service, seeking "urgent" help for him.

In the first call, the staff said, "We have a guest who's off his head on drugs and is destroying everything in his room. We need someone to come."

Esteban then called back after the call went off, saying, "'I don't know if the guest's life is in danger. The room has a balcony, and we are afraid he might do something," after which he told the emergency officer to "just send an ambulance, only an ambulance."

Local media reports that Payne was "acting erratically in the hotel lobby and smashed his laptop" before he "had to be carried back to his room."

A woman who identified herself as Rebecca recounted her encounter with Payne to the DailyMail.

She told the news outlet that Payne was hanging out in the lobby of the hotel and was seemingly pissed by an email before he started slamming his system on the floor.

"I have a blind relative and I realized he had the laptop on its accessibility setting, for some reason, so that each time he moved the mouse, hovering over something the machine spoke out loud to say where the cursor was," Rebecca explained.

She went on, "I assumed he was doing that for the attention too. Then he opened his emails and saw one which obviously upset him. Suddenly, he took the computer, shouted 'f-ck this sh-t mate!' and started bashing the computer on the ground."

Payne's behavior seemingly left fellow guests and hotel staff concerned as he acted "so out of place."

Rebecca said she went over to ask him, "Are you OK?" but "he just kind of grunted," before saying he's "so f-cked up" because he "used to be in a boy band."
